Jodeci Album Project in Development?

June 26, 2012

Link

It’s been almost 15 years since the release of Jodeci’s last album The Show, the After Party, the Hotel which included the hits “Freak’n You” and “Love U 4 Life”.

Since then, music from Jodeci collectively as a group has been almost nonexistent. As R&B fans continued to wait patiently for something new to come out, it seemed improbable that a new album would ever be released. However, Dalvin DeGrate, better known as Mr. Dalvin, exclusively announced to us that a new album is indeed in the works.

“I don’t want to promise you anything, but I would say near the end of the year. I think that we’ll probably go on tour first because we haven’t toured the States since like ’96, so we’re probably going to tour the States and then everybody is going to come back together and put out that album. We’ve got like 200 songs recorded already, we got so many songs recorded so we’re probably going to go through them and put an album together. We got hot songs that we never released or nobody ever heard. “

Furthermore, Dalvin made sure to denounce any speculation that the “Bad Boys of R&B” had broken up.

“Everybody thinks that we just broke up and we don’t even speak and no one even talks or nothing, but it’s nothing like that. We’re family and people don’t understand that.”

Be on the lookout for Jodeci’s new album which will be released by Interscope/Universal.

Let's see, this is like the tenth time I've heard from one of the members of Jodeci... they better rehab their boy JoJo before he falls again and can't get back the fuck up. neutral

I could care less. I was never a big Jodeci fan. Besides, haven't they been "recording" for an album for 10 of the 15 years they've been away?

Notwithstanding the strong probability that the album project is a vaporous promise, I wouldn't be surprised if DeVante Swing has amassed a large stockpile of unreleased songs.

The Stevie Wonder Syndrome has befallen them. It's a condition which a person or group of individuals unsuccessfully avoid missteps, or purposely create an environment, that results in long gaps between albums. wink

I'm not even trying to get excited until I see some concrete evidence. How many times has Dalvin said this in the past? And yeah, as much as I love my Jodeci men, Timmy is right, they need to make sure BOTH Jo-Jo and DeVante are straight before doing anything.

Y'all know damn well this album ain't gonna drop. They been saying this since 2001. Ever since they showed up at the 2001 BET awards high as a kite looking lost and sh*t, their career has BEEN over.

Even if they were to release something it would barely go plastic.

Didn't they have a reality show about how they were getting back together?

How did that work out for them? lol

No. It wasn't Jodeci's show, it was just K-Ci and Jo-Jo and it was just talking about how they were in rehab and trying to get sober. The show was actually a pretty good show. DeVante made a cameo appearance, which it seemed like he needed to be in rehab moreso than K-Ci & Jo-Jo.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

DeVante was working at a studio in NY state, my older brother worked as an engineer there. I believe the name of the studio was Dejalone(something like that)

This is right before Missy Elliott Ginuwine Tweet and a few others aaliyah maybe came out. They were all thru there at a time. My brother met a few of them, spoke to Madonna on the phone when she called to talk to DeVante, I believe TLC as well.

DeVante rented out the place to record the next album after their last. He took over certain spaces and painted the walls black. My brother said he had a "prep" room that had a video screen and stackss of porn. He would play porn and listen to Shirley Murdock before getting ready to write music or record. and would turn the room air conditioning on blast with no shirt on.

Many times he would walk into a studio to assist and it was full of weed smoke.

He said after a while people abandoned the idea of being produced by him, like Missy Elliott

place cleared out and with DeVantes issues, of course the next album was never released but a lot of music was started or made.

It is only one reason Jodeci hasn't been able to get it right & get back together. Its Devante' he did a Sly Stone. He still is not all there yet & doubt he ever will be..He would always start projects & then disappear. The last time he never came back. Luckily the peeps he discovered in the process made up for his absence. Missy, Ginuwine, Timbo & The late Stephen "Static Major" Garrett.

DeVante had just come to visit them one day and he was talking about doing a new album for Jodeci, touring, etc. And basically K-Ci & Jo-Jo were telling them that they wanted that too, but they needed for it to be done right, they didn't want to rush into something knowing that they needed to work on themselves first....INCLUDING DeVante. He had on these ole' big sunglasses, you couldn't see half his face, but you knew it was him because it was the same ole' laid back DeVante. lol

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Devante' was very gifted.I'm sure like Prince(who he is a die hard fan of & modeled his career after) he has a lot of unfinished tracks in his vault. A few years ago he was wondering through Taco Bell here in Cali flipping over tables. Whatever he put in him fried his brain. Its sad that all that talent is wasted now. sad
