I'm not surprised that they didn't include Teena Marie...but it's Rolling Stone...should I have even expected it?

Come on now lol Adele in the top 10? GaGa at number 11? i'm not saying there bad albums. But there popular... but they have only been out oh a little over a year confused If it was 10, 15, 20 years later and there was still a big impact. But come on those albums are barely a year old.

Otherwise it's not to bad of a list.... Aretha is usually number 1

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

Where's Whitney? By no means does Rolling Stone and its content appeal to me, but it was alittle shocking. If it wasn't for Donna's passing, they wouldn't have put her on the list. Just saying! Just a little sympathetic call because of them labeling her as solely a "disco artist" for so long. Sickening. disbelief

btw.. I find it odd how many recent albums made the list (Adele, Gaga, Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Alicia Keys, etc..), it's very atypical of Rolling Stone..

Not even gonna look, I have a good idea what the list will be. Sucking up to the acts they normally do and put down the ones they normally do. They don't go numbers in any way shape or form (Cyndi's only at 41), it's only going on a group of people's personal preference that is usually the same. The site's a big joke, always has been

THIS IS SOME FUCKERY.

I can't with Born This Way even being on the list, let alone 11.

Rolling Stone needs to stop with all these dumbass lists.

In general, it's not a bad list. * very * surprised ...
Adele at 6th place - this is a big joke. If only a 36 place - it would be quite reasonable.
Born on a 11th place. Well, I see Gaga in this list, but with Fame and outside the top 20
4? weak album, Beyonce released better.
Amy and Whitney is missing in the list.
Although for "Rolling Stone" such a list - a lot of progress.

FUCK Rolling Stones... biggrin

lol lol lol lol Why is Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Gaga on this list??????

The fact that Beyawnce, Alicia Keys, Lady Gaga and Adele are on a list of this magnitude and ranked as well as placed before other groundbreaking albums shows how much of a crack pot joke Rolling Stones really are.

Those albums were just released LAST YEAR so how within ONE year could they be placed as being the greatest of ALL time. Im so fucking done with Rolling Stones and their disrespectful bullshit ass lists. Always do shit for ratings and popularity.

There is no way in HELL ANY of those albums are the greatest of all time or EVEN deserves to be on a greatest of all time list

the problem with this list is the ALL TIME title, plus who voted?, peoples minds are way too recent with things, to me i cant say all time about anything from Beyonce,Adele Gaga keys or taylor swift, popular YES and good albums yes, in all cases their best works, but they came out like 5 minutes ago, how about letting them the test of time. Singing contest tv shows are already labelling "the new adele" WTF??? i mean how about letting things mature for god sakes

I agree with that point with the ALL TIME title you made ... and another point you made as well I want to elaborate on , what about OTHER not so popular mainstream artists that are critically well known???

This is what pisses me off about Rolling Stones.

They want to be taken so seriously as an music critci organization/magazines but they narrow their criteria to only cater to the Beyonces, Chris Browns and Lil Waynes basically only current popular artists as if that is what the music industry consists of and FORGETTING major legendary artists that are more deserving to be on these lists they make

What ERYKAH BADU????

WHAT ABOUT FIONA APPLE???

There not legendary but they have had albums that have tested the time in a decade length that still have impacts to be worthy to be on THIS list...

Anybody who got good music common sense knows they have release more worthy material over any of the main popular artists listed and I exactly like Adele but come on give me a fuckin break.. even Lauryn Hills Miseducation album is WAY better than 21, not to mention Whitney or Teena Marie is no where to be found on this list eek

People seriously need to start boycotting Rolling Stones...

and I like Adele and she is VERY deserving of her success as far as sales but to a degree she is beginning to become overrated, this is ridiculous now. Just because she is the best out of a bad bunch doesnt mean she is the GREATEST of all time and all this bullshit.. watever

It's a shame that Erykah isnt on the list (I havent actually looked because I dont want to get pissed off lol) I dont think Adele should be on that list, she's overrated and I've said it before it's just industry hype, if people want to know a true artist, I'll only have to say one thing, ST VINCENT; Annie Clark- she's the most talented female artist out right now, arranger, producer, composer & multi-instrumentalist and has done great albums. Just listen to these albums Strange Mercy (from 2011) & Actor(2009), and it will totally blow you away, musically. The songs are even better live, which I cant say for Adele. Is Björk and Patti Smith at least on this list? Also what about No Doubt with Gwen Stefani?

If this list came out in 1996, Jagged Little Pill would have been #1 not #50. lol

All these new artists they have ranked so high, well...just wait a couple of years for the next list of the same name and see where they're ranked then.

To be honest I didnt look at each artist that was on the list specifically, I did glance through it lol But there are ALOT missing according to some that have looked through them. Rolling Stones is irrelevant and have been irrelevant for YEARS. There opinion doesnt mean anything... Its just sad how fucked up the industry is I mean c'monnnnn Teena Marie and Whitney Houston should at least be on this list. eek

Its REALLY disrespectful to the real legends but like I said it doesnt mean anything.

well it really just shows the demographic at the magazine, how Alanis Morrissette is behind Taylor Swift? i mean really, no disrespect to Taylor she has talent, but taylors album is far from classic, I was glad to at least see some surprises like Linda Rondstadt "Heart Like A Wheel" and Lucinda WIlliams also on this list, but wheres Alison Krauss the woman has won more grammies than anyone and no representation here? not surprising, like it was said these lists always reflect the times we are in at the moment. When Nirvana was at their peak their album i believe was top 5 on greatest of all time list, and it was still on the charts, but granted that record held up and i would list in a top 100 easily even though i didnt like them. But Adele is just an album thats hot and YES i believe in 10 years will be on this kind of list but far down. I mean i cant see anyone going and buying a new record of an artist loving it playing it to death for months and actually saying its one of the greatest all time albums WITH A STRAIGHT FACE! Seriously U cant, im just getting to call albums from 10-12 years ago like Elton John's "Songs From the West Coast" one of top 100 albums of all time, sure i freaking played it to death then but i wouldnt say it was the best thing ever in creation

Exactly. That's the problem I have with people praising Adele, they're saying she's all this and that, but in all seriousness her music aint all that. It's just revolutionary right now because of the horrible music that has been out on the radio for the past years. I agree that Alanis is behind Taylor is just completly crazy, Alanis was one of the leading women in the 90s and I cant say the same about Taylor.
