Mint Condition's New Album, Music @ The Speed of Life

June 8, 2012

Link

After spending over two decades creating original records, Mint Condition finally sense "it's our time now." The band released the album 7 in 2011, which produced two Grammy nominations, increasing their momentum and growing their fan base.

Ready to build on the successes of last year's hits like "Caught My Eye," the veteran group will not wait several years to drop a new album. They will release their eighth studio album Music @ The Speed of Life in September.

"We definitely think we're headed in the right direction. It's kind of strange to say that after two decades but we feel it's our time now, we've paid a lot of dues, been schooled in the business, honed our craft, in other words, we've gone to the "puppet show" and seen the strings!" said the band.

Mint Condition stays close to their roots integrating Jazz, R&B, Rock, Latin influences and pushing their boundaries. "We believe by staying true you become vulnerable in many ways and people feel that, whether it's joy, love or pain, it comes across in the music and people embrace that!"

The album will be released by Shanachie Entertainment,.

Cool. This is very surprising considering historically they generally took 3

years between albums. They've already completed many of the tracks

for the album and have begun shooting photos for the album.

Okay, I need some help getting into Mint Condition. I have the GH and I have 7 and I can't think of any tracks from these albums I didn't love. Which one should I pick up next? Which is your least favorite and why?

From The Mint Factory is probably the next one you want. It's probably the most

popular among fans. My personal favorite thus far is Livin The Luxury Brown.

The most slept on album by the group is Life's Aquarium which is their best imo

from a songwriting standpoint. This album has a nice mix of uptempo cuts and

ballads. If you like their ballads you will love Just The Man For You and

This Day, This Minute, Right Now. My least favorite would be a tossup between

ELife and Meant To Be Mint. These weren't bad albums but on ELife a few of the

tracks are just pale in comparison to other work and I can't really find fault with

Meant To Be Mint other than the fact i don't listen to it very often and it's just a

victim of being in that time 1991 but i still love most of the tracks especially

the rocked out I Wonder If She Likes Me and probably why i like Livin The Luxury

Brown a lot because of a few of the rocked out tracks. Hope this helps.

ok, confession time. i RESPECT Mint and I'm sure they're tight live and have a good to great catalogue. but i don't own ONE Mint album! i remember enjoying their big radio songs back in the day (pretty brown eyes, breaking my heart...). so i think i'll take the plunge and cop their most recent joint 7. there are lots of groups i've never really gotten into and i feel like oh well, i missed the time to FULLY appreciate their albums (the nuances of the different eras), which is why i think i'll get 7 first. Hope to be even more apologetic once i hear what i've missed.

It's never, and I mean NEVER too late to get into the Mint's albums. Shucks before I saw them live for the first time in '05, I only owned "Life's Aquarium" and "Living the Luxury Brown".....BUT after I saw them live, you better believe the very next day I was pulling out them albums to play in my car and then headed to the wrecka stow to buy the ones I didn't have!!! I rocked nothing but their music for months straight. Couldn't even listen to nothing else.
