Meh. It's not my viewpoint on it all, but I can see why they think that way.

Little Richard called Elvis a 'blessing' for bringing black music to a white audience. Admittedly, I'm not an Elvis historian, but it seems that his popularity did just help bring universal attention to the artists who originally made that music.

Little Richard can say what he wants, but I am sure Chuck didn't feel blessed or any number of other black artists of teh day. I don't particularly think Elvis stole anything, but for the originators it must have stuck in their craw that a white face suddenly made their music more palatable to the masses.

If we're speaking strictly of him covering specific songs originally by black artists; tons of artists cover another artist's song and make it a huge hit.. it may suck for the original artist, but Elvis was not the only person to do it; and it wasn't only black artists whose songs he sung.

But some people complain about white people performing genres of music that were created by black artists, and I find that quite offensive..

Hate is a strong word but artists I aint feeling these artists that most people love:

Eminem - He is an amazing lyricist and has imagination but most of his songs are novelty to me - I can't imagine listening to his music in the car or getting down to it in a club - just don't know what to do it.

Aretha - I don't hate her, like a few select songs but I aint really into much of her music.

Alicia Keys - like a few tracks like 'you don't know my name' but she is NOT a great songwriter or singer most people think she is.

I have loads more but most are to irrelevant to post.

I think some people do not understand the meaning of this theme ...... We're not talking just about our personal dislikes, we're talking about very beloved artists in the world...

everyone loves Nicki Minaj or Justin Bieber?? I do not personally know any. lol

I can not think of a single artist or a band that I would really hate, but
I'm not a fan of Nirvana, I think their influence on rock music rather negative, they are overrated as hell, though they have some songs that I like a little bit.

It's fine that you don't like them; but if you hold it against them that other people overrate them, or that the bands they influenced suck, then that's wrong. Judge them by their own music, and forget about how highly other people rate them.

Out of curiosity.. which songs do you like a little bit?

Yes, Justin has a lot of views on YouTube and some fans, but the ratio of like / dislike very sad. Obviously, it's a lot more people are just annoying.

Far from every popular artist could be called "Artists everybody else seems to love". It must be respected by many people artists, at least

---------------------------------------------------

Nirvana....

The problem is that I think they are just one of many, by no means unique.
Kurt was a tough guy, he is the embodiment of a rock artist of 90th, his tragic death, especially in this magical age "27" made for the status of the group more than all their music is put together.
When each rating, they are higher than the Pink Floyd or Queen, it's just craziness.

Nevermind - a good album, In Utero - decent ... but it all!! 2 album - the lack of contribution to be considered one of the greatest rock bands of all time. Kurt - one of the biggest icons in rock music, this is absolutely for sure, but there are hundreds of rock bands that I would put above.

From Wikipedia, on Justin Bieber's My World 2.0 sales...

The album has received positive reviews, and debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200,[2] selling over 283,000 copies, [...] When the album sold more copies in its second week, Bieber became the first act since The Beatles to debut at number one, and sell more the following week. [...] In its ninth week of sales, album sales were up by 2% with another 62,000 copies sold lifting its total sales to approximately 1.04 million copies thus surpassing the one million mark in slightly over two months.

...clearly lots of people like him. I agree that he's not as critically acclaimed as, say, The Beatles, but right now he's one of the most popular artists out there.

wow, hate is a very strong word, I guess I only hate certain racist artists/bands...not very famous anyway

but I certainly DISLIKE many of the best-selling artists of all time, including ABBA, Mariah, Celine, Whitney, etc

and virtually any post-2003 successful shit-hop/shit-dance artist (GaGa being the exception), and many of the famous hair-bands of the late-80's...

I HATE Maroon 5

Can't stand Kanye West

I never really got into the Rolling Stones or the Beatles

and I hate the "New" country singers of today. I was never a country fan but if I had to listen to Country music, I want the old, "real" country singers; Dolly Parton (love her) Merle Haggard, George Jones, Tammy Winette, - all this new manufactured country like Keith Urban (who's Australian!) My God, let the country singers be the real deal and come from the f'in COUNTRY- like Loretta Lynn- dirt poor with 500 kids by the age of 16 and something to sing about. Okay, I'm done now.........

Stevie Nicks. Never have got what all the hype is about with her. She sounds like a sheep.

Trey Songz. Speaking of sheeps, he sounds like one too, but he's sort of a different farm animal. The ones you find at the State Fair.

Beyonce. Speaks for itself.

Rhianna. Speaks for itself.

Diana Ross. No I don't hate her, but I think she's overrated.

Jefferson Airplane/Starship (or was it Spaceship?). I just don't get them, sorry. Maybe they would make sense if I smoked marijuana but I don't, so oh well.

Neyo. He may can write a song, but he can't sing a stroke. And even his song writing is average at best.

Lalah Hathaway. I don't hate her, but I've never been able to get into her music. It just bored2 me. The only song I like is the one where she collaborated with Robert Glasper on his new album and did a remake of Sade's "Cherish the Day". But that's about it.

Melanie Fiona. Can't get into her music either. To me she really can't sing that well.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.
