Does anyone know if Whitney was ever on a gospel singing career path?

It seems she enjoyed singing gospel a great deal when she'd do it on awards shows and impromtu.

I was just watching this video of her with Bebe and Cece singing hold up the light on Arsenio and it made me wonder what a career in contemporary gospel might have looked for her.

Ah okay cool I also thought she somewhat resembles Nina Simone.

Whitney hinted during her interview with Sister2Sister that she wanted to do a gospel record but Clive "wouldn't let her".

but wasn't his father told that he plus two other people could come? so why did he show up with six other people? i think if you want respect, don't you have to show it? i'm sure there were members of whitney's extended family that didn't get to sit up front either; those seats were likely reserved for the immediate family and people they had asked to speak and perform, right? so why should bobby's family - his kids weren't whitney's blood relatives - be front and center? i didn't think it was a show; these were people that whitney knew and loved. i think everyone, for the most part, came across as heartfelt.

WTF???

No offense, but all these people sitting on the sidelines trying to call the shots on how this FAMILY should have reacted during a time like this?

All this talkin' greazy about things that we have no knowledge of or are not privy too (nor do we have any right to be) needs to cease. Seriously, people. disbelief

bobby and family had a right to leave or be offended or whatever. but what i don't understand is why they expected certain treatment when they were told beforehand they weren't going to get it. if bobby was told show up with three people, tops, and he decided to show up with nine, security, under the instruction of whitney's family, had the right to ask them to leave.

i never said that i had privy to the details; however, everyone else is commenting on the prima facie evidence, and drawing their conclusions, so what can't i?

That's too bad, I could really have seen her morphing into a Yolanda Adamas/Cece type pop gospel singer, and perhaps enjoying that type of career.

Because his kids were part of Whitney's life before. She allowed them in her home. So why can't they sit up front with her ex husband that was in her bed for 15 years? Its not fair. I would have left to. If they tried to kick me & my kids off the front row of a funeral of a women I was married to for 15 years. Then prevent me from trying to talk to my daughter I helped conceive. He & his kids had every right to be up there.Even if they had to sit on the floor.

it is fair. bobby was told three people, tops. he shows up with nine. he was told he wouldn't be accommodated so he left, which was his right. however, the ultimate right here belongs to cissy houston. bobby's kids don't trump whitney's mother. again, i'll bet other of whitney's friends and family didn't get to sit up front, either. there was a limited number of seats and cissy alotted them out as she saw fit. bobby didn't have to agree to it, and he obviously didn't so he left, but if he was expecting cissy to move an inch, then it was his bad, not hers, since told him what she wanted from the get-go.

Yeah you could tell she was into her gospel. I saw a performance of hers from her last tour and she was singing "I Love the Lord" and you can feel the emotion in her voice even if her voice wasn't all the way there, she still could show emotion. If only her voice hadn't been ravaged, man, that would've been an even more amazing highlight reel.

Well, she does have the distinction of owning the best-selling gospel album of all time, right?

Maybe Whitney knew Iman - Bowies wife - thru her charity work? Iman does a lot of work for African charities. Do you even know if they knew each other? Iman & Whitney could also know each other thru their modeling connections. You don't know who Whitneys friends were yet you have an opinion on who should & shouldn't be invited. Your lips are flapping but there is just hot air coming out.

The Houston family in 1983 before Whitney's fame: I'm not good on which brother is which but I'm guessing the one on the left is Michael, Cissy and Whitney of course, John, and younger brother Gary (the one that always accompanied Whitney).

The one of the left-hand side is Gary.

Yeah! Pathetic, isn't it? Someone pointed out that Cissy Houston sang background for Bowie.

I'll say it: Aretha was JEALOUS of Whitney. But I don't think that had anything to do with her not attending the funeral.

It's upsetting because Whitney ALWAYS spoke volumes about Aretha. I just know in my heart that Whitney would have showed up to Aretha's funeral.

Bobbi Kristina Didn't Know About Dad Bobby Brown Controversy At Whitney Houston Funeral

Posted on Feb 19, 2012 @ 05:14AM

Bobbi Kristina Brown sat in the front pew for her mother Whitney Houston's funeral, and fortunately wasn't aware of the controversy involving where her father Bobby Brown and his entourage would be seated.

The teenager, who was twice hospitalized in the 24 hours following her mother's sudden death February 11, was comforted by her grandmother during the service.

In an interview with CNN, the Rev. Jesse Jackson, who was on stage throughout the service, revealed that neither Bobbi Kristina or Cissy Houston saw the unfortunate incident going on two rows behind them.

Jackson didn't defend Brown arriving with an entourage of nine people but did say he thought Brown's own seating "could have been handled better."

, Brown claims that he and his "family" were asked to move three times before they finally left the church.

More in keeping with the genuine emotion of the day, Whitney's producer and mentor Clive Davis spoke directly to Bobbi Kristina during his poignant remarks.

"Always be proud of your mother, she loved you so very much. She defined not only pure talent, but true heart and soul as well," Davis said. "She will forever be looking over you and will never let go of your hand."
