As recently as 2001, following the attacks of Sept. 11, the Hot 100 welcomed Lee Greenwood's 1984 country hit "God Bless the USA" and Houston's spine-tingling rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner," the latter of which had reached the chart's top 20 a decade earlier. At the time, the inclusion of these songs properly captured the musical mood as the nation reacted to that tragic day.

"As the digital age has progressed," says Billboard director of charts Silvio Pietroluongo, "with the immediacy it provides, the line has blurred between the relevancy of new and older recordings, which are for the most part equally accessible from one's home computer."

"Going forward we feel that it is the proper move to allow older titles posting enough activity to return to the Hot 100 if ranking in the chart's upper half." (Billboard's policy of removing descending songs from the Hot 100 after 20 weeks if ranking below No. 50 remains unchanged).

It was all good till I got to Alicia Keys. I know y'all love her like some hot buttered cornbread but her voice and style are not good enough to honor the great Whitney Houston after her death.

I've been avoiding listening to Whitney Houston songs like crazy this week because I just can't go to where many of her songs that I KNOW...are going to take me.

However, when I just saw this pop up on my recommended list, I was overwhelmingly compelled to push play.

By the time this song came out, we all knew of "Whitney Houston". The good. The bad. The WTF?

For me, it wasn't until this song came out, that I saw the real "Whitney Houston". The one that would answer to the name..."Nippy". Yeah, her!

Given the current circumstances, I thought this song would really make me feel bad and sad but it doesn't.

I am forever going to see, hear, UNDERSTAND and remember the "Nippy"...that I...SEE in this video.

Especially from the 2:30 mark!

I'm obsessing over Whitney right now and am immersing myself in her music. Its because I haven't yet, at least not wholly, accepted that she is gone. The whole thing is unreal. Its been 5 days with constant coverage of her passing and her addiction and tumultuous marriage to Bobby Brown and yet it still seems as if she isn't really dead. That's how you know someone has made an powerful impact on your life...when you can't yet let go and say goodbye. When people say that she had one of the greatest singing voices if not the greatest voice, they are by no means exaggerating or being overly complimentary. The chick was that awesome.

A Los Angeles talk radio team has been suspended for 10 days for referring to the late Whitney Houston as a “crack ho.”

John Kobylt and Ken Chiampou, known as John and Ken on KFI in Los Angeles, apologized for the comments, and said they accepted the suspension.

During an on-air discussion in the wake of Houston's death last Saturday, Kobylt said, "At some point you’re just sick of it all, and so is everybody else in the industry. All her friends and hangers-on; everybody who knew had to deal with her.

“It's like, ‘Ah Jesus . . . here comes the crack ho again, what’s she gonna do? Ah, look at that — she's doin' handstands next to the pool. Very good, crack ho . . . ' After a while, everybody’s exhausted. And then you find out she’s dead. It’s like, ‘Really? Took this long?’

The station issued a statement calling the statements “insensitive and inappropriate. . . . KFI management does not condone, support or tolerate statements of this kind.”

Kobylt, in a statement, said, “We made a mistake. We used language that was inappropriate and we sincerely apologize to our listeners and to the family of Ms. Houston.”

How incredibly distasteful, mean-spirited and just plain ignorant. Did they say the same thing about Amy Whinehouse when she died? How about Kurt Cobain?

They didn't just use inappropriate language they flat out disparaged her and defamed her character.

When did having substance abuse issues equate to being a ho or a crack ho? I guess cuz she's black she must automatically be a hooker of some sort.

Dumb asses need to be fired for talking that shit about Whitney. Damn they didn't even have consideration for her daughter or mother.

While I'm listening to her music the radio, and watching her live performances on youtube, I'm amazed how much Whitney Houston's music has been a part of my life. I was young when her debut came out, my mom and her girlfriends played her music constantly. I'm sure can remember what was going on in my life when I hear a certain song being played. She will be missed.

I think this is my favorite Whitney Houston song.

I've been doing this with her final album "I Look To You". I got it when it first came out but I kind of slept on it at the time. I think all the gossip about her sort of tainted my perception of the album then.

Listening to it now, this is a really really nice album and though her voice has a bit more gravity to it than when she was younger - it still shines.

I hadn't even watched the videos to the singles from this release until now.

The song/video for "I Look To You" just seems so apt, so beautiful and a little bit heart breaking in the wake of her death.

You know it'd be great if we can get Aretha, Dionne, Gladys, Patti, Chaka, and Diana all on the same stage together honoring Whitney but I don't know if it'll ever happen. People don't take advantage of opportunity. We all wait until it's too late.

I'm saying a special prayer for Bobbi Kris for tomorrow because its going to be the first time she actually see her mom since she passed.

Never thought she OD'd. She passed out and died. Cardiac arrest more likely than heart attack.

As she died, she ended up in the tub in some way.

If she'd fallen, someone in the next room would've heard that.

She may have been dead up to 30 minutes before she was found.

Jay-Z, Beyonce, Elton John, Oprah Winfrey to attend Whitney Houston's funeral

— Elton John and Oprah Winfrey will lead a parade of celebrities expected to attend Whitney Houston's funeral at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark Saturday, according to two people with knowledge of the family's plans.

Rock star David Bowie is also expected to attend the services for the 48-year-old pop queen, a source said this afternoon. Earlier today, a source told The Star-Ledger the rap mogul Jay-Z, songstress Beyonce, comedian Bill Cosby and singer Chaka Khan planned to attend Houston's funeral.

The sources spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to make the guest list public.

While he refused to disclose the guest list, Newark Police Director Samuel DeMaio said Wednesday that officers will provide motorcycle escorts to many of the celebrities who are expected to arrive in Newark this weekend. The funeral will otherwise be a private affair, with police shutting down a six square-block area around the New Hope church. There will be no procession of Houston's body from Whigham Funeral Home to the church Saturday, and no outside video screens erected so fans can mourn publically, DeMaio said.

The area remained public this afternoon, however, and Houston's cousin Dionne Warwick was seen at the church where she is believed to be practicing for Saturday's service with the New Hope Baptist choir.

Mayor Cory Booker is also expected to attend the services, according to his spokeswoman, Anne Torres. Currently, he is the only Newark dignitary to publicly receive an invitation. On Wednesday, several city council members said they had not been extended an invitation to the event.

Booker also announced that Newark will lower flags at its municipal buildings to half-staff in honor of Houston tomorrow, mirroring Gov. Chris Christie's decision to do the same at state facilities which drew criticism yesterday.

“Our City is mourning the loss of one of its native daughters and one of music’s shining stars. Whitney Houston inspired so many people, and although she went from a Newark church to the global stage, she always remained a deep part of our city’s pride and collective heart. Our prayers continue to be with her family during this difficult time,” he said in a statement.

E! News also reports that Kevin Costner, who starred alongside Whitney Houston in the blockbuster "The Bodyguard," is expected to speak at the funeral, along with Houston's mentor Clive Davis, although Costner's publicist told The Star-Ledger he could not confirm this.

Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder are both expected to sing in memory of Houston. Invitations to the private service have reportedly been extended to singers Chaka Khan, CeCe Winans, Brandy, Darlene Love and songwriter Diane Warren, according to E!

Fans will have to content themselves with a TV and Internet feed from inside the church, where Pastor Marvin L. Winans will give eulogy over the service. Winans tells CNN's Anderson Cooper that the family wanted to bury Houston "with dignity." "This is not a break or an opportunity," he told Cooper. "We are really hurting and seriously grieving, and it amazes me the insensitivity of the media when it comes to things like this ... We loved her when she was Nippy in New Jersey. The world loved her because of her voice. But if Nippy could not sing, the Houston family would love her, and I knew that Mama Houston would do it the way she wanted it done. We're going to church, and we're not going to be worried about if the world can get in."
