MJ's Scream Vs. Madonna's Secret

Both great songs from underrated albums. Both lead singles from their 1995 albums.

Which is the better song? Which song has aged the best?

I do not like either one of these songs, but I chose "Scream", simply because I prefer Michael of the two artists. lol

Scream...

I've always hated Secret. Weak weak lead single to a great album.

I'm a bigger MJ fan but I never really liked Scream and have always LOVED Secret, one of Madonnas best songs and by far the best song off the boring album it came from.

Madonna really doesn't make good albums to me. The only good songs are the singles

confused

Three decade defining albums, with huge amounts of critical acclaim. The first two also made it into Rolling Stones top 500 albums of all time.

I agree with this part.
One of my least favorite songs on the "History" neutral

Yes, the first two albums - classic.

I listened to "Like a prayer," "Ray of Light" a few times.

Frankly, it`s not my music, but it does not affect the status of these albums, they deserve a place among the best. wink

lol

The only thing Confessions defines is her crapy Madge's music output has become. Come on, people! ! razz Even if you like the album, you gotta admit it's no where near the cultural, musical and iconography of her other output. Confessions is a good album for Britney or one of today's pop tarts. That I will give it but that aint saying much. lol

duh

the comparison here

is really

1995 in the house

....

You Are Not Alone vs. Take a bow

the number one singles from their respective underrated releases...

both among my least favorite tracks from each artist, but HUGE helps to BOTH careers...

MJ's no 1 ballad about love with a hot 90s writer/producer or Madonna's no 1 ballad about love with a hot 90s writer/producer?

i pick Take A bow...by a mile...but i also would rather listen to lady caca than taylor swift so, ya know...

As for this thread, Secret is one Madonna's best songs, best singles, and best vocal performances. Dallas Austin really outdid himself the way he produced her vocals...he made her sound like T Boz almost on that track...LOVE IT!

"Scream" is a horse of another color - it's Michael AND Janet. I mean, how does life get better than that?

I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

Confessions had the sound of radio in 2011 in 2005...worldwide it is still very influential and was a huge success overall

"Hung Up" is sitll one of her most popular tracks on itunes...and the other singles though not huge in the US are all fan megafavorites, esp "Get Together"

I personally prefer it to "Ray of Light" overall...

Yeah, I went for the easy three, but I could spend a good hour (or 5) describing how each Madonna realese is a cultural masterpiece.

no no no! no no no! no no no! no no no! no no no! no no no! no no no! no no no!

Confessions is Madonna at her best. In an age when most CDs are a collection of singles and filler Madonna created an album of seamless steller dance numbers. Ahead of it's time it would still sound inventive today and perfectly predicted the resurgence of dance music on the hot 100. Hung up is easily one of Madge's finest singles re-writting a disco classic with subtle self references and a stellar hook. Don't even get me started on the beauty of Future Lovers, Forbidden Love and Get Together or the kick ass Sorry and Like It Or Not. This is by no means an album Britney could produce, this is THE dance album of the last decade.

I'd prefer MJ worst song over Madonna's best song.

Scream being MJ's BEST song (in my opinion), it's obvious I'm going to pick that.

I hate Madonna.

She's only made two great albums to me and those are Madonna in 83 and Like a Virgin in 84. Other than that her overall albums have never been that great to me. Something always sounds off. Hard Candy, Confessions on a Dancefloor, American Life, Bedtime Stroies, Erotica, and Music aren't good albums to me. Ray of Light and True Blue weren't so bad.

I wouldnt really lump COADF with the other two either. The lyrics are probably the weakest on any of her albums along with AL, which really wrecks the album for me, and some of the melodies are just dire. I agree with whoever said its shows how weak her music has gotten when its considered her best one from this decade. (I would in fact give that title to Music even though I generally group it in with her 90's albums).
