OMFGN!!! Ryan Seacrest wants to take over VH1 Soul!

Fans of VH1 Soul (like myself) will be SHOCKED to learn that Ryan Seacrest is in talks to take over the fledgling network, home to videos by some of real R&B's finest like Erykah Badu, Jill Scott and Maxwell.

I guess channels that play mostly music videos make no money, so they're open season for reality TV shows and being taken over by the likes of Seacrest.

The video playlist will be as follows:

Christna Aguilera
Adele
Anastacia
Amy Winehouse
Justin Timberlake
Jamiroquai
Natasha Bedingfield
Duffy
Robin Thicke
Maroon 5
Joss Stone
Mayer Hawthorne

(No Jon B. or Teena Marie because they are too...you know)

"You won't find more soulful artists on the planet than the ones on my network--------Seacrest OUT!"

BLAQUEKnight = bigot on the Bachmann level

I remember once a black girl that only white people could be racist. Obviously she was wrong.

I'm still waiting for BLAQUEracist to put up 10 good R&B songs from the past ten years... but she's kinda shy when it comes to backing up her smack talk.

BLAQUEmoron on another thread "is there NOTHING this new quazi yadda yadda...":

"You are not knowledgable enough to speak on R&B if you think Adele is the only good R&B artist out. Unlike these other folk, I'm not going to rattle off a bunch of artists for you. Come back when you know something because apparently you don't."

PS BLACKEmbarassment, Obama is half white too. The elected half.

So.. did ya grow into being a bigot or were you born that way?

Fool, I don't serve you. You can wait until hell turns to heaven for all I care. I care not what you think.

I cracked a joke based on Seacrest's personality type, which is why there was no mention of artists like Hall & Oats or Michael McDonald on that list. To SEACREST, those listed would be "soul artists". You think you have a clue about me but you have no idea who I am or how I think. Hell, you don't even know what racism is.

I'm not going to bother going back and forth with you on that becuase I don't want to turn this into a thread that gets moved to P&R.

Seacrest is a perfect example of a mainstream pop culture figure. He doesn't give a shit about soul music. Hell, as it is, VH-1 Soul is usually shit for real R&B/Soul programming. Its only lately (after a lot of complaints) thay they have even started going back and playing 80s videos. I was shocked to see Frankie Beverly and Maze on there this week. (I bet you don't even watch VH-1 Soul, do you?)

They RARELY touch on real soul music videos because a lot of those would be live performances from shows and I'm sure they don't want to pay the fees for the footage. A lot of their programming is 90s hip-hop and they pass that off as "soul music", so that in and of itself is an indicator that they are currently clueless or apathetic - either way, they suck half of the time. Mtv/VH1/Time Warner only cares about one demographic - 14-24 year old females. Everything else they do is just an air they put on to keep people from complaining that they aren't being fair. If they could, they would eliminate all old videos and only show current videos that promote artists that are generating large revenue streams.

So, pardon me if I don't do any corporate schlong-riding for these assholes (like you are unwittingly doing), of which Ryan Seacrest is very much a part of. Dude wouldn't know soul if it f*cked his mom.

As for you, when you have something worthwhile to say, I might engage you. So far, you have said nothing of any real relevance aside from a feeble attempt at attacking me.

I used to before the music turned to crap. You should be happy to even have a channel, I mean you can't even list ten good songs from your favorite genre that were not created before 2002.

Who's a fool? I was just calling you out for acting the tired racist moron you portray yourself to be.

You are a wooly mammoth.

Actually, for all the jokes about programming blue-eyed soul singers, this is a really bad sign sad because this may be the end of VH1 Soul. If Seacrest gets this, he'll probably ditch the format and rebrand it as his own reailty TV lifestyle channel ala E! or TLC. Remember that Centric used to be BET Jazz while SoapNet is about to become another Disney Kids channel. Even Oprah's network used to be another Discovery Channel niche network.

nod I was just inquiring to Directv on requesting VH1 Soul that never happened. I guess now if this deal goes through. Which i'm sure it will. The days of VH1 Soul are nearing to an end.
