Barbie and the Rockers! Now you've REALLY taken me back! I'd forgotten all about those Jem clones for a minute. I still remember their theme song.

And a few years later, she branched over into rappin Barbie. I remember a 1994 issue of vibe commenting on her "Barbie just can't stop flowing, she has a beatbox which plays some hellaciously unfunky music"

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

lol lol THEY MADE A RAPPING BARBIE lol lol

I know that was a hot mess. Anyway, I'm thinking with that failing and the Flava line failing a decade later...it's obvious that Mattel doesn't have any idea what the whole "hip hop movement" is. Let's hope that someone over there isn't thinking of trying it again in the near future.

OK, did anybody else ever wonder what the hell was up with Synergy's eyes? I mean, I know she was a computer and all, but damn, if she could (sort of) create an entire rock group, why couldn't she do something about her own eyes?

Synergy WTF

And I see all of your creations as one perfect complex
No one less beautiful
Or more special than the next

Sure was! Britta sang a couple of songs in the movie, including "Mr. Big Stuff". Here's a clip of the song. The video quality is bad, but it's the only thing on Youtube of her singing lead from the film

In the end though, I think that Misfits music was better. They were right about that. Now though, Pizazz would be all over the tabloids 24/7 doing some crazy shit. She would be like Lindsay Lohan now.
