Who's Really The Greatest Entertainer Ever?

I was watching Prince's Parade Tour, and he was performing "Life Can Be So Nice", and I said to myself, "this motherfucker is the greatest entertainer ever". As soon as I said that, I thought about

MJ(everyone claims he's the greastest entertainer of all time). Now, doing Prince's performance, he was really interacting with the crowd, playing a little bit of keyboards, doing some sexy as dance moves, hell, he even tried catching flowers with his mouth.

Second is Freddie Mercury, he was a far better entertainer than MJ. Simply because of his personality, and he was doing something different every show.

Point is, what makes a artist a great entertainer? Because there's no way in hell MJ was better than Prince or Freddie Mercury.

Yes, I was one of his biggest fans before I knew about Prince. Nothing he did excited me. Have you

watched Sign O' The Times, Nude Tour, Controversy Tour, Lovesexy, Dirty Mind and 1999 Tour?

Well, if you don't mind me interrupting, I have seen them, but nothing beats the excitement and pure awesomeness of the Destiny/Triumph/Victory/Bad/Dangerous tours.

Thanks for answering. Can u be more specific about the statement "Nothing he did excited me"? (Wonder if you simply didn't FEEL it, or something else?)

And how many songs did u watch in each tour?

Thee most individually talented human I've even seen from an arts & entertainment stand point was Sammy Davis jr.

That said...........I'll take Prince over any single individual that 's I've ever heard or seen.

MJ over Madonna?

All I ever saw from his live shows were lip syncing while doing the robot...

Heck even his most iconic performance (Debuting the moonwalk) was lip synched.

Sure Madge had lip synched on occasion, but never for a full tour.

I agree.

To me MJ's the best entertainer ever so far. I saw those crying/fainting/screaming people at his concert and it always makes me wonder if any other performer will ever be able to make that many people go that crazy and emotional. (I actually never been to his concert in person, I watched the DVDs and youtube videos.)

He stood there people screamed their heads off, he took his glasses off and people screamed even louder and he did one kick and the excitement was already at max...Before he even began to actually sing the song all this happened...

I wouldn't say he entertained them by doing that, it was his presence that had people so crazy.

When you entertain someone, it last for a longer time.

And why do you think people felt that much excitement just by looking at him and feeling his presence? It was part of the process of him building up the hype and the excitement, which is part of "entertaining" people. Everyone can learn to sing/dance/play instrument...perform...but I don't think you can teach how to truly connect with the crowd on that level..

Of COUSE you would say this... I mean this is a PRINCE FORUM lol BUT on ANY regular forum on a good day golf forum, beauty forum, rap forum, ring forum, weightloss forum, music forum paybills forum AS WELL AS REAL LIFE etc etc etc... Michael Jackson wins all the time because HE IS.

You have to realize something, being a musician and entertainer are TWO different things. Musicians can also entertain as well however Prince is an ACQUIRED taste. I LOVE Prince but I have NEVER been entertained by him like how I am by Michael. There really is NO comparision. Your going to get this thread locked or just stir up more drama. Cause you talkin crazy shit now.

Just say you prefer Prince over MJ but Michael is the greatest hands down. This goes BEYOND tours. Michael as a performer could stand ALONE on stage with a mic and be entertaining. Michael DONT EVEN have to use his magical amazing natural dancing talent to entertain a crowd but on the other hand folks here only arguement for Prince is the fact that his plays instruments and interacts with the crowd. I like to see Prince do half the stuff Michael does and be able to bring tears to my eyes without no guitar in his hand and just his mic. Not to mention Prince is NO WHERE near as talented as Michael on VOCALS ALONE. It is MUCH more to being a entertainer and it is also much more as to why Michael is the greatest entertainer that ever lived besides his impact on tours.

I think his popularity had something to do with that. The guy was a star since 5 years old. Who

wouldn't go crazy over a legend like that.

I've seen footage of Prince accepting an award, and not being able to be heard on multiple occasions. Have you seen Prince footage of Prince at the 86' American Music Awards? He stole

Huey Lewis moment.

Its impossible to quantify as it means different things to different people.

I'm lucky enough to have seen most of the greats. MJ, Madge, Freddie, U2, Stevie, Ray, Frank etc. In my mind, Prince wins hands down.

I can't pick just one:

I would say these are among my favorite/greatest entertainers:

James Brown would probably be at the top of my list. Especially since a lot of what we see and hear today came from him.

I would also add, Jackie Wilson, Michael Jackson, Prince, Sammy Davis Jr. (only because he did everything great), Tina Turner, Madonna and Fred Astair. All of these people are among the best to have ever done it.
