Late 80s New Jack Swing/R&B fans...please help me identify these songs

First of all hello to everyone....I'm a longtime reader of this forum but just recently decided to sign up

I'm wondering if anyone can help me ID the very first song in this link:

It sounds like Aaron Hall from 'Guy' but I checked all of his albums (and the Guy albums) and didn't find it

I've been trying to find this song for over a year now, on various sites and forums.....I even tried the NJS4E forum with no luck....

And while I'm at it, there's also another song I've been looking for for years now....it's an R&B/New Jack Swing song that sounds VERY similar to 'Casanova' by Levert (the song even has the same tempo and percussion if I remember correctly). It's sung by a male who I believe sounds like Babyface, if I remember the voice right. The only word from the song I remember from the choris is "Beauuu-tiii-fuuul" for some reason, and THAT might not even be right. Anyone think they might know?

I remember reading another thread on here about 'ripoff' songs and thought that I might find it there, but again no luck....

Thanks for trying to help.....but I actually meant the song right before that one lol (although I had been searching for that one as well)

The thing is, when I DID find that song, all I had to do was Google the lyrics and VOILA! However, I can't do that with the first song, because all I can hear from the singer is:

"Ohhhh.....oh-no-no....oh-no-no....oh, no, nooo....."

"Ohhhh.....oh-no-no....oh-no-no....oh, no, nooo....."

Then you can barely hear him sing something else before "Someone For Me" starts, and it could be anything from "Sit your body" to "Is it your body", or "Sex your body" or even "Since you're buying".....

Try finding a song with THOSE lyrics confused

It seems more likely to be an Aaron Hall soundalike IMO, although it might be a song he or Guy recorded for a soundtrack maybe. As for the second song you're looking for, I'm guessing if it sounds like Babyface it might be one of his songs from the 80's/early 90's from the 'Tender Lover' or 'Lovers' albums. Although it also might be by After 7.

Nah....I already knew it wasn't Babyface because just like with Aaron Hall/Guy, I listened to samples of each song off every one of their albums from the 80s to 1995 (I even listened to all the non-album songs, like any ones done for a soundtrack or where they were featured on another artist's song....I had a lotta help from Youtube, Amazon.com and Discogs.com). The songs that I'm looking for; I'm SURE they weren't released after '95

However, your After 7 suggestion was something I never considered....I just listened to all of their songs after reading your post, and no luck... neutral

Thanks for trying to help

No problem. You could try sending the person on Youtube a message asking what the songs are as the songs might not be by known new jack swing artists, which is why they've been difficult to identify.

I already did that 3 times - each time in English and French (via freetranslation.com) since he appears to speak French....no response neutral

It's a shame too because I like the way it sounds. It's probably a local artist somewhere that was jumping on the Guy bandwagon (sounds like Aaron Hall) and the DJ at the time just happened to put it in the mix but unfortunately it seems to have been recorded over. I'm pretty sure the lyrics are "Is it your body?..." But yeah too vague to google. Definitely around '89/90 though. Good luck and let us know if you find out!

If you open it up on youtube I think folks say it's Marc Nelson Step To Me. The ex-member of Boyz II Men & member of Az Yet. From his solo album I Want You from 1991 when he was in his Guy. Aaron Hall, Bobby Brown, Keith Sweat phase after leaving Boyz II Men to sign with Capitol Records after person differences with Shawn & Wayna.

Yeah, I read that and then went to go check "Step To Me" by Marc Nelson out. It's not the song. The original poster is talking about the song from :33-:52 seconds. Someone out there has to know! smile

I knew that was Dino singing! I only have that first H-Town album on a cassette, though, and I don't know where it is. Wish I could track down the remix to "Keeping My Composure" on CD...

Good find, I think I've got that H-Town album on CD but haven't listened to it for a long time.
