Best song from the Five Heartbeats film?

I loved all of them except that synth funk jam with Flash joined the group (it was all right.)

Baby, Stop Running Around from Bird and the Midnight Falcons and Donw For the Count from Flash and the Ebony Sparks. I think both would have been hits if actually released back in the 60s.

A Heart is a House for Love, Nights Like This, Nothing But Love and We Haven't Finished Yet are tops for me.

My favorite movie of all time! So many great songs, but I'd have to pick "Nothing But Love" and "A Heart Is a House for Love" as the best.

Who would you have singing those cuts back in the day?

Of course the Dells for "A Heart ..." Nothin But Love, I could see the Levi tearing that up.

NBL was definitely a Tempts song. biggrin

I'd have the Four Tops doing Nights Like This and We Haven't Finished Yet. nod

The entire soundtrack is great, but I feel like going on is the best damn song on that cd, and one of the best gospel- influenced songs period. I know it has gotten me through many a rough days and nights

Nights Like This is the gem of gems in that film. although I rather like that song that Flash and Leon's character ended up doing an unintentional duet on. You know the one where they're serenading the lady in the audience and her date up and leaves her.

"Come back...come back...to MEEEEE HEEEEEEE!!!!!" cool

Love it!!!!

that disco song they sang was cool too...."Every time I try to leave....I keep coming back...back in the middle....It really makes no sense to me......something something" lol

nod But by far "Night's Like This" is my absolute fav. My favorite scene in the entire movie is when they are singing that song with the blue and silver outfits and Eddie belts out: "let it rain, let it rain on me yeah!!! Night's like this I wish, I wish that rain drops would fall....OHHHHHH BABBBBAAAAYYYYYY!!!!"

Damn, I love that movie. touched

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

You have to buy the soundtrack. I dont think you can get that song as a single. Amazon had the soundtrack for awhile. I got mine way back when. lol

"Nothing But Love" really runs the gamut of emotions in the movie with 3 versions:

  1. "Eddie running for his life" Heartbeats version woot!
  2. "Pulled over by the cops" a cappella version sigh cry disbelief
  3. "We got soul" Horsemen version hmm hah! neutral shake mad
