Kim Burrell ain't playin' either.
Not only does she have mad pipes, she can also kill a keyboard

She has untouchable talent.
No goofy getups or stage props. Her voice is the show.

Kim might just be the successor to Aretha. Did she have formal vocal training?

Don't know if she's had formal training or not.
She's almost like Aretha/Mahalia/Ella combined with her own personal touch.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Kim is one of the best voices we have today. To complete your early Christmas, check out her 2nd CD "Everlasting Life". Prodigal Son, Prodigal Son (Reprise) are DOPE! Especially the high energy (Reprise) version with the guitar solo. "I Come To You More Than I Give" is hot too. Throughout the record she has these little jazzy jam sessions with her band that are nothing short of crack rocks. The midtempo, "Everlasting Life" was cool too. These just happen to be the first songs that came to mind. I haven't listen to it in a minute.

She recently was featured on the smooth ballad on Marvin Winans song called "Try". You'll be surprised how smooth this joint is. Enjoy getting to know Kim. I met her once while she was promoting "Everlasting Life." She's mad cool, If I recall correctly she's from Houston, TX.

Hey TA, What do you think of "No Ways Tired?" I haven't heard it yet. The last joint I got from Kim was her Live record.

There is also a version of "Thank you Lord", by Walter Hawkins that Kim Burrell sings that is off the hook!!! It's on youtube as well...her jazz vocal style is incredible.

If you enjoyed the production style of Everlasting Life then you should enjoy this one.
However, I don't feel that either studio album gives you the full Kim Burrell Experience like her live performances do.
