I only see Todd on World's Dumbest on truTV. lol Danny Bonaduce ain't had no decent work after the "Partridge Family", you know that. lol

Mr. Bridges is right, we aren't given the benefit of the doubt but what's new?

Less get real, most child actors don't make the transition to working in the entertainment business as adults. What he's been through along with his costars of "Different Strokes" (drug addiction, runs in with the law, and squander fortunes) has been par for the course for most child actors. Bridges being Black made it career even less of possibility after he reached adulthood. Which means Bridges was going to have to plot a course.. get a plan and carve a niche for himself and he didn't. Having substance abuse problems meant he pissed away lot years that he could have been doing what daPrettyman said, 'getting an education or doing something else in the business'.

Keven Hooks (Sounder, The White Shadow) did.

Kevin Hooks never needed to worry too much about employment - he was always workin' my heart overtime.

she was "away" for quite awhile getting her shit together, though. long enough for people to forget who she was and what she did before she came back in her late teens.

Todd Bridges' (and Lohan's) problem is they fucked up on the verge of adulthood, so everyone identifies the "adult" them with that stuff.

Went away where? She worked pretty consistently throughout her "struggles." Her and RDJ were given the benefit of the doubt.

I'm blanking on who RDJ is. But what kind of high-profile stuff was Drew in during her "struggles"? I mean, take a look at her filmography in those years. "Babes In Toyland" and "Poison Ivy" and "The Amy Fisher Story" aren't exactly high profile or respectable gigs. shrug

I thought Wesely Snips burnt bridges when he made those remarks about black women.

But looking at this list reminds me how much of a fuckin' Hypocrite hollywood is. Look at Michael Jackson, here is a man that was accused but never committed any crimes, and look how the many people felt about him. On the other hand, Roman Polansky got away with statutory rape EVEN though he was committed, and not only that but a HEAP of Hollywood's biggest names stood up for him by forming a petition.

Child actor Todd Bridges was on the Today Show couple of days ago, and he basically stated towards the end of the second part of the interview that he blames some of the failure to really restart a major acting career to racism; that despite the fact that he’s been clean and sober and has stayed out of trouble with the law for over 16 years, he’s still labeled as a drug addict and unreliable by the powers-that-be in Hollywood, while other white actors who have had their own share on drug problems, spent time in prison and wild behavior such as Robert Downey Jr and Drew Barrymore have kept working and have now are even bigger stars than they were years ago.

What did Paul Mooney say? "Protection of the complexion for the collection" yeah sounds funny but I bet it hits home.

Todd Bridges was a child star on a semi-crappy sitcom. I don't think racism has anything to do with it. Has there ever been a role out there that was just SCREAMING for Todd Bridges to be cast in it?

I think not.

You know, it's funny that you brought that up. I was watching an interview with Gary Colmen a few weeks ago and he said that he is never seen as a serious actor since his days on "Different Strokes". The thing is, everything that I have seen him and Todd in, have been B.S. They have taken things that one would not take them seriously in anyway. If you want to be taken seriously at your craft, stop playing victim and go after those roles.

I didn't say shit about high profile. She NEVER stopped working for any considerable amount of time is my point. And came back bigger than ever. Todd Bridges has been clean and sober according to him for 18 years.

Ya know?

Angela Bassett worked in a TYLER PERRY movie for fuck's sake lol that should give you a hint(even though she made her share of credible performances) and that still didn't give her the luxury to be selective. She's what, 50?

And anyway, he came off as FAR from being a "victim" to me....

You cannot compare Angela Bassett to Todd Bridges. Their bodies of work does not even compare. Ms. Bassett is at a point where she can pick her and choose her roles. I think the fact that she was nominated for an Oscar has given her that privlege. Besides, she is not complaining about the roles that she is getting. All I am saying is, if you want to be chosen or at least thought of for those "serious" actor roles, then position yourself for them. Yes, we all have to eat and well need to make money. But, the bottom line is, we are only as good as our last gig and if your last gigs was as a contestant on "Celebrity Boxing" and guest commentator on "World's Dumbest Criminals", people are going to have a hard time thinking of you as a serious actor. If you want those roles, then take some responsibility and start positioning yourself for them.

I wasn't comparing, I brought her up to make a point, and the point is if you're a BLACK ACTOR/ACTRESS, you have no power to be selective and still enjoy a fruitful career(no matter how credible your work is) save for a VERY few people. Can't have it both, baby!

And hey, its not a pretty reality shrug Spike Lee who for a time used to be one of the RICHEST hollywood directors ended up funding one of his recent films from Dubai's help. These folks have to work regardless, because hollyweird won't be knocking on their doors anytime soon, and if they happen to be the ones making the FIRST STEP to hollywood, chances are they'll play 2nd fiddle to somebody who's way more inferior than them talent wise.

Have you read her interviews? lol The woman developed a sore throat from voicing her displeasure of hollywood's mistreatment of black women. You cannot read an Angela Bassett interview without ANY sort of criticism against hollywood's portrayal of black women,,,check the infamous Newsweek interview where she called on Lee Daniels for the "Halle Berry/Billy Bob" scene,,,and last year, she criticized Woody Allen when he wanted to cast her as a "whore" in one of his recent movies.

And as for her privleges, she - a woman with SO much substance - ended up playing a Tyler Perry movie in a classic typical redundant "helpless pitiful woman get saved at the end of the day by a man" tagline, now you do the math lol that doesn't exactly scream "able to choose her roles" to me.

Drew didn't have a high-profile role again until... what was it... 2001 for the "Charlie's Angels" film? I think her hit films before then were independent releases that did very good in the box office. RDJ is Robert Downey, Jr. lol

As far as I remember, Drew Barrymore eased her way back in through small roles. First I remember seeing her as during her clean period was a cameo in Wayne's World 2 and then the tiny role in Batman Forever. It wasn't until the hype around Scream and the advertising campaign pretending she was the star that her adult career really took off.

RDJ is exceptionally talented. He'd proven that by his early to mid 20s. In fact he was proving his acting chops during the drug binges as he said he was high the entire time he filmed the old man scenes in Chaplin. He also has a father in the business and he made a LOT of shitty movies between the good ones (yes, I've seen them all). Personally I think he has the charisma and is just well liked now he's finally clean.

Maybe white these actors in Hollywood straightening themselves out and having successful comebacks is the equivalent of rappers going to jail for street cred.

Some people just need a break though. Look at how long it took Mickey Rourke.

I think you're right. However, I think everyone is missing something. Drew comes from Hollywood royalty, whereas someone like Todd or RDJ didn't. We also don't know who Todd burned bridges with either.

Um first of all that song with Pitbull is for Darchild's album NOT Janet's. He used Janet's name to bring attention to the song by adding her as top-billing. And Tyler Perry's movies do well in the box office that shade failed lol

that list is kind of silly.

janet's sales aren't because of the ridiculous incident, they're because her albums are really tepid and boring post jam & lewis.

isiah washington made his bed and can damn well lay in it. calling someone a faggot is akin to calling someone a nigger. he and michael richards have no one to blame but themselves. sadly, the vibe list doesn't even get the story right and feels the need to make a gay joke about broadway. classy...

and oj? oj killed two people, and more recently took people hostage at gunpoint and robbed them. so he REALLY has no one to blame but himself.

Janet's music wasn't any different and Jam & Lewis were right by her side with Damita Jo and 20 Y.O. Her sales plummeted because of the incident. Case closed. You don't go from 7.5 million all the way down to 3 million worldwide because of "bad music".

i am a janet fan and was a big defender of her during the insane overreaction to her breast.

my ipod contains only 3 songs from discipline, 1 from 20, and none from damita jo, but i bought all 3 cds.

compare that to rhythm, which has almost every track (save the interludes), half of velvet, half of janet, and half of all for you.
