Janet Reunites With Jermaine Dupri For New Album

February 3, 2010

Janet Jackson and Jermaine Dupri may no longer be romantically involved, but that’s not stopping the former couple from rekindling their magic in the studio.

Producer-songwriter Bryan-Michael Cox revealed that he and J.D. are reteaming with the pop star for her next album, the first since 2008’s Discipline. “I’m producing Janet’s album with Jermaine and it’s going to be hot,” B. Cox told Rap-Up.com at Tricky Stewart’s pre-Grammy party last Friday. “That’s all I can say so far.”

His producing partner Kendrick “WyldCard” Dean also chimed in, adding, “Some great collabos on there,” but didn’t disclose further details.

Janet has been in the studio with Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins working on her 11th studio album, due this year on A&M Records. She is also set to add her vocals to the “We Are the World” remake, singing her brother Michael’s part.

ugh. Janet needs to go the pop/dance route, like Cher did with "Believe" and Madonna with "Confessions." She needs to listen to some Gaga, Kylie, Goldfrapp, etc. Mix that in with a few strong ballads... That would work well for her, IMHO.

He needs to fuck off! SERIOUSLY! He's trying so hard to work things out but she's obviously keeping her distance. Lets hope she's not dumb enough to accept their shitty submissions.

Dear God, no!

Are you kidding me? So here comes another below par album! I mean, nobody can sit down with her and say "This isn't working anymore! Find new people to collaborate with and/or get back with Jimmy and Terry." It's also possible that this is some bullshit and wishful thinking!

I don't understand JD though. He lost his position in the Urban division at Virgin because 20 Y.O. flopped. He was "let go" from Island Def Jam because Discipline flopped too. But he's still submitting tracks to Janet!?! He IS the fool.

I remember when someone asked him why did 20 Y.O. flop he said because there was no promo falloff e was the one running around town doing interviews with/out Janet to promote the album.

JD says he may write song for Janet for 'Married Too' soundtrack
Posted on 1/28/2010 08:10:00 AM ET
While working at a DJ gig last night at a nightclub in Brooklyn, Jermaine Dupri revealed to a reporter from New York's NBC 4 that he may write a song for Janet for the soundtrack of Why Did I Get Married Too?, which she stars in.

From the article:

Hip hop mogul Jermaine Dupri and pop diva Janet Jackson called it quits last year. But the Grammy-winning producer revealed Wednesday night they could be back together soon -- in the studio.

Spinning at Smirnoff's "Subsessions: A Journey Through Hip Hop" party at Brooklyn's New York Transit Museum, Dupri revealed to Niteside that he may pen a song for his ex-girlfriend as part of the soundtrack to her upcoming movie, "Why Did I Get Married Too."

"I guess people can take that however they want to take that," he said.

While the potential collaboration may or may not be a reflection of their current relationship, Dupri insists the pair was never together just for show.

"It's not like something we was doing for fake. 'Let me hold your hand right now because the camera's out.' It's a real situation," he said. "It's like regular same s--- that everybody else go through."

Details about the sequel's soundtrack, including its release date, have yet to be officially announced. The film itself is scheduled to be released to theaters in the U.S. on April 2.

Janet did not have any songs on the soundtrack to the original film, which was released in 2007

that's what, the third one we've had come forward saying they're producing Janet's album? first it was Jam & Lewis. then Jerkins. and now Dupri?

hopefully she's ge enough sense to play all of them off of each other competitively and pick the best ones from each team, instead of going with one to do the whole thing.

Two things bother me about this article:

"rekindling their magic in the studio."

Really, what magic?

"Some great collabos on there,"

This scares the hell out of me.....

I try to never prejudge anything before I hear it but I'll just say that I'm not too enthused about this. Hey, Jermaine and crew can submit what they want but it doesn't mean they'll make the cut. However, sometimes I think Jan has trouble seperating the dick over sound business decisions. Let's see what happens....

lowkey

jd is really trying hard to get his lil ass back in the door, i dont believe any part of that story.if janet is dumb enough to let him produce her album it will prove to me she dont give a shit about her music anymore.

If obviously his producing efforts didn't work with the past few of her albums that have flopped, then why keep using him? Why not go to something that works like Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis and I mean use them ONLY on the album as producers. What's wrong with Jan these days? Can she not say no or something?
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

triple cosigned. Jam & Lewis seem to be waiting for her to regain her senses, from what I could tell on the Jackson brothers show. C'mon Janet, even Jackie was like those are her producers.

WOW...really poor poor decision right now in the game to do this...I really feel bad for her judgement on this one.
