Sexiest R&B Songs of All Time

There's nothing like a sexy R&B jam to set the mood right. Though there are too many to count, The BoomBox pared down the ocean of tracks to pick the top 10 sexiest R&B songs of all time, spanning the eras from the sassy '70s to the naughty '90s and beyond. Peep the cuts below and prepare to get stimulated.

10. Janet Jackson, 'Any Time, Any Place'

Call her Ms. Jackson if you're nasty -- or throw this one on during a late night sesh to prove just how nasty you really are. On this slow number, Janet invites the listener to indulge in her exhibitionist tendencies, with lyrics that extol the virtue of getting it on in a public space. But as the third verse rolls around, you soon realize that she isn't about making her intimate moments public -- she's just cutting a rug on the dance floor. Even so, it's sexy squared.

9. Aaliyah, 'Rock the Boat'

Baby girl may have left this world entirely too soon, but she left a treasure trove of tracks in her wake that still coast on the same vitality they had when they first dropped. 'Rock the Boat' was Aaliyah at her sexiest, ripe with sexual innuendo by way of extended nautical metaphors and a pulsating instrumental. Though she never pushes the sex talk over the edge, Aaliyah took it close enough to the brink without compromising her womanhood -- and the product is all the more sexy for it.

8. R. Kelly, 'Bump 'N Grind'

Before Kellz went on a career tangent comparing sex to driving a Jeep or a rainforest on every song, he was making steamy bedroom-friendly tracks without any gimmicks. 'Bump 'N Grind' is the sexiest of his early romance songs, thumping along with its sweaty baseline, gushy synthesizers and unapologetic lyrics about how there ain't nothing wrong with getting it on. This joint had everyone in the mid-'90s doing the do, and to this day, it still has the power to encourage a little bump 'n grind.

7. Keith Sweat, 'Nobody' Feat. Athena Cage

One of the major players during the new jack swing movement, Keith Sweat came with this self-aggrandizing appraisal of his foreplay skills in the mid-'90s. But what distinguished this joint from the rest of the '90s sex jams was its inclusion of a female presence, giving the perspective of both sides of the gender coin. As Keith and Athena trade off vocal duties, tensions mount and bliss is inevitably achieved, making it one of the hottest duets in sexual R&B history.

6. Ginuwine, 'So Anxious'

Never before has a song about sexual tension sounded so delicious. On 'So Anxious,' Ginuwine coos about a test of patience over a smoldering Timbaland beat, sharing tales of heating up a bubble bath and preparing himself for a long night of loving once his girl gets off her shift. Of course, Ginuwine may not have been as anxious if he wasn't a self-admitted "sexaholic," but lucky for all the lovers out there, he chose musical therapy as way of coping with being put on ice.

5. Jodeci, 'Freek'n You'

As aggressive as it may be, Jodeci's 'Freek'n You' raises the bar for mood music. Setting it off with a cavalcade of chiming bells, Devante Swing, Mr. Davlin, K-Ci and Jo-Jo make their inner desires public on this ode to freek'n, harmonizing while chanting pleading lyrics like, "What must I say/What must I do/To show how much/I think about freek'n you." For any gentleman trying to get his freak on, cueing up this Jodeci number is the way to go.

4. Barry White, 'Can't Get Enough of Your Love, Babe'

All you need to set the mood right is to turn up that bass and let Barry White's baritone work its magic. Though White has an arsenal of love-inspired classics, 'Can't Get Enough of Your Love' has blood pumping through its veins, graced with a creamy blend of disco-brushed instrumentation and lyrics that praise the almighty woman that burrows herself under a man's skin. If ever a gentleman needs a way to express his love for a lady, this is the jam to do it.

3. D'Angelo, 'Untitled (How Does it Feel)'

At the height of the neo-soul movement, D'Angelo took the conventions of the genre (sexiness, slinky grooves, buttery vocals) to another level with his magnum opus 'Untitled (How Does It Feel).' Spread over a staggering seven minutes, the ballad sees the velvet-voiced crooner flipping between singing in falsetto and from the gut, keeping his tone to a sultry whisper until he cuts loose at the song's chill-inducing climax. Put this on, pop some bubbly and you've got your seven minutes in heaven.

2. Prince, 'Do Me Baby'

Undoubtedly the king of sex-inspired R&B, Prince is at his nastiest on this '80s jam off his appropriately titled fourth album, 'Controversy.' In his trademark falsetto, the 'Purple' one moans about getting his girl to "kiss [him] all over" and "play with [his] love," eventually cutting right to the gist and commanding his lady to "give it to me 'til I just can't take it no more." Throw this one on the bedroom playlist and you'll be screaming the same thing.

1. Marvin Gaye, 'Let's Get It On'

There's no exact number for how many babies were conceived to Marvin Gaye's classic "Let's Get It On,' but if one were to take an accurate stab at it, it would probably have about four or five digits. From the three mood-setting guitar twangs at the beginning to the sax solo at the end, 'Let''s Get It On' is the ultimate sex anthem, bold enough to give a man confidence to try to do the deed and sensual enough to put a lady in the mood. Just be careful when you put this one on -– you never know what'll come of it.

OK, I would have to disagree with most of this list. There are so many "Sexy" r&b songs that should be on that list. "Simply Beautiful" from Al Green immediately comes to mind.

Huh?

I'm sure almost everyone here has heard that song. It went number 4 on the r&b chart, 24 on the radio chart and 45 on top 40 radio, so people should know the song.

I just don't see how they can say "all-time" when most of the songs on the list are from the last 10 to 15 years.

Agreed.

Also Janet's most sexist song is NOT Any time, Any place nor is R. Kelly's Bump N' Grind whofarted I would vote Tempo Slow instead love

I agree. The remix of Bump and Grind is sexier than the album version.

Really?

That is a flop for Usher. #4 on the R&B chart? Usher should get automatic #1s. Even the snoozefest Papers went to #1. Trading Places was the first Usher song since his breakthrough My Way to miss top 40 on pop radio. That is an EPIC flop for Usher- so no, I don't expect people to know it.

As for all time... most of the songs I listen to are current. Usher is one of my favorite singers... sorry I didn't mention an Al Green song. confused

There are many other Marvin Gaye songs sexier than Let's Get It On.

No doubt, sexy song, but You Sure Love to Ball was the sexiest cut on that album. I Want You, that entire album you can build a family on.

Same thing with Barry White

Can't Get Enough, are you serious??? Who made this list???

I'm Gonna Love You Just A Little More, Playing Your Games, Ecstasy, Put Me In Your Mix, etc. Tons of Barry White cuts.

No Isley Brothers, Stephanie, Luther, Peabo, Sade, Teddy Pendergrass, please!!!

I and many others I'll bet have always thought of "Can't Get Enough" more as a dance song than a love/sex song lol Now the sexiest most magical song on LGIO 2 me is....

I like Usher and think he is a great singer, but his most memorable song to 99% of the population is "Yeah". As for the last album, people bought the album, but it wasn't as big as Confessions, 8701 or My Way. I don't think anyone expected it to be as big as those albums. Believe me, any person who listens to r&b KNOWS "Trading Places".

I hope you check out Al Green's back catalog. Al was sexy without being overtly nasty (like a lot of people do today). Same for Marvin Gaye. Marvin's "Let's Get It On" album and "I Want You" are some of the sexiest songs every laid down.

I also want to add "Moments In Love" from Art of Noise. That song is pure sex!

I believe that Come Get To This is the most underrated best cut on that album, but as far as sexiest, You Sure Love to Ball was the "blue light" midnight jams and it was a preview to the I Want You album.

Speaking of midnight, Sexual Healing was a sexy song also but I'm not sure if it's sexier than Lets Get It On

I think "'Til Tomorrow" is sexier than "Sexual Healing", but I agree that "You Sure Love To Ball" is probably the sexiest.

You know what, I was thinking about Til Tomorrow, but listen to the lyrics, it's depressing.

Just like I was about to call Lisa Fischer's Ease The Pain the sexiest song I ever heard hands down, but the lyrics are too damn depressing

I can't lie....Me'lisa Morgan did this song and did it better.
Tevin Campbell did Shhh better. Sinead O'Connor did Nothing Compares To U better.

Nobody is touching Prince on If I Was Your Girlfriend, Adore, Insatiable, Scandalous, International Lover.

1. Marvin Gaye, 'Let's Get It On'

There's no exact number for how many babies were conceived to Marvin Gaye's classic "Let's Get It On,' but if one were to take an accurate stab at it, it would probably have about four or five digits.
