no way would I say Aaliyah was overrated . . .

she definetly had that "X" factor & ok she was no vocal diva but she worked well with what she had.

I think her movie career would have become bigger than her music career had her life not been cut short sad

Aaliyah was very tlaented in many areas. I recall having a conversation after her death to the effect of her passing left a void in music that a lot of girls tried to fill (Ashanti for example). I think if she had lived she would've continued to grow and impress us with her talents. It's too bad we'll never know what could have been.

heart Aaliyah
When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

How was she manufactured as an artist/dancer?

Being manufactured doesn't make her bad. There are quite a few artists that are good yet manufactured. That's why I said she was the Rihanna of her time. Rihanna can work with what's given to her. Her style and music (production and lyrics) is all molded by other people and handed to her on a platter. Yet she fools the public into believing it's all her. Aaliyah did the same. And I've always felt her music was centered around the production rather then her as an artist.

Again, Aaliyah was FAR from manufactured. She incorporated her thoughts into the songwriters and prodcucer's ideas, which Timbaland said HIMSELF. Whitney Houston barely wrote a song in her whole career, are we gonna sit here and say she was manufactured? Not every singer has a talent in songwriting and production. and I dont remember Janet and Tlc rocking baggy jeans and a swoop bang. Just sayin.
Its funny how loosely the word "manufactured" is used.

I don't know if she was overrated....I truly don't think she had a chance to reach any kind of peak. I think it was just so sad she was so young when she died.
