Just about anyone else. Except Fergie. Or Ashlee Simpson.

While I do love Bey, she hasn't did ANYTHING that's changed music. Putting out an album every year and re-releasing the same album every 2 and a half weeks does not qualify her as an artist of the decade. It's more to it. Someone name 3 solid contributions that Bey has made to the music industry

Artist of this decade ain't saying much. Hell, this decade is even duller than the 1990s and I never thought that was possible.

lowkey

where is this article from? who wrote it and what authority gave her the title, this sounds like some random fan wrote it on a blog or something. i agree she has been the biggest thing this decade, i mean she has been going non stop all 10 years of the decade, but when the author of this love fest said she had 'the best 2 singles' of the decade i had to raise my eyebrows.

The only 2 singles I could think of that are worth mentioning is Crazy In Love and Single Ladies. Those will be the only 2 songs she'll mostly be known for

The only thing new I bought this decade other than the Prince and Jamiroquai albums was this album by Marcel....

http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/marcel5

Check out "Secret Weapon" which is very Dirty Mindish and "Cosmopolitan" which is very Prince mid 80sish. "Where Is The Love" sounds a lot like "If I Was Your Girlfriend" but there is no sample to listen to. The rest of the tracks are horrible though but those three were pretty good. "Come On Baby" was decent also.

I actually think there's been a lot of fantastic music this decade. I much prefer it to the 90s. However, I agree that music on the radio/MTV is getting progressively worse. Thanks to an internet connection and more disposable income, I've been able to explore lots of artists who don't get much in the way of mainstream exposure, and there's a lot of great stuff out there, I think!

The only thing I liked from the 1990s was the house/dance music and the fast Miami bass type rap. Other than that, the entire decade was a midtempo shit hop mess. lol

i like Beyonce, and i am a recent convert. I couldn't care less about Destiny's Child and really couldn't stand to listen to her when she first went solo. But slowly my opinion has turned and now I enjoy her stuff a great deal. I think the turning point was seeing her live... she is an AMAZING entertainer... and she can sing, no question about it. She is an icon loved by millions, and it's no accident... She's going to have a Madonna-type career in terms of long-term success, IMHO.

Artist of the decade? No... But I agree Entertainer of the Decade, for sure.

I pretty much agree w/ everything you said. There is still tons of amazing music being made but unfortunately popular music is generally really bad, especially those Nickelback/Daughtry type bands, and the horrific hot topic emo music like Evanescence/Panic at the Disco/mall-goth-band-of-the-moment.

Beyonce has an exceptional voice and is extremely talented. She also has horrible songs that will not age well and spends too much time showing off her body for attention. It's hot right now but what about in 20 years. She should spend more time picking better songs for her projects and crating a lasting legacy of great music not just flavor of the moment tracks that get props on YouTube.
When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

I disagree, most of her songs are extremely well-crafted pop. Single Ladies was a cultural phenomenon, and an insanely catchy and memorable song. Most of her big singles are actually pretty good, IMHO. People said the same thing about Madonna in the 80's and her songs have stood the test of time.

Honestly, it's not. I believe Beyonce and her camp WANTED it to be a cultural phenomenon. So they went to great lengths and organized a flash mob.
