5 favourite off...Erotica!

I feel like this album is Madonna's best 90's album start to finish and has some underrated tracks. Which are your top 5 and why? Mine are:

Words-Lyrically I can relate, and the music has emotion in it with it's melodic hook

Why's It So Hard-I love the bollywood/bhangra/reggae feel to it and again a great message

Bad Girl-love the pianos, love the video and the lyrics

Rain-love the beautiful melody, build up and it has a Human League vibe to it

Where Life Begins-Love the wordplay and pianos, especially how it builds up in the chorus

Took me a long time to really love this album. There's a couple of stinkers on it, and I never remembered just how many great songs are on it.

"Erotica" - makes me hard every time I hear it.

"Fever" - There's a 12" mix (perhaps the video mix, and definitely the one she used on concert) that's far superior to the album version

"Bye Bye Baby" - The perfect kiss-off song.

"Rain" - Beautiful melodic pop.

"Deeper and Deeper" - What Madonna does best..dance music! I love that she resings a line from "Vogue" in it too.

Most honorable mention: "Why's It So Hard". The live arrangement is a bit superior with it's "Sing ya love, spread ya love, share ya love..." chant.

Best videos are "Deeper" and "Bad Girl"

yeah it took me 4 years to really appreciate it. When I first bought it, I only listened to it twice and let it collect dust and then later on, it sounded like a gem to me, I guess my music tastes had matured.

I have "Erotica" in my car now and have been listening to it on my way back from work all week (the drive there is reserved for Stephanie Miller. My commute is about 40 mins.

As much as I thought I liked "Deeper and Deeper", in truth it's the video that's the hit!

This album is a relative disappointment compared to most of her work, but there are some gems. Only 2 songs make my overall top 50 for Madonna, but they're both in the top 15.

"Bad Girl"---I have always loved Madonna's sad songs and this one just screams "heartbreak"....can't bring myself to let you go....it's one of her most dramtatic,heartfelt ballads,filled with sadness and emotion.I have always wonderered if she's singing about herself in these lyrics,disatisfied with the person that she had become.The video is arguably her greatest video.

"Erotica"---the title track is relentless and outrageous....a fun,yet dark dance track.At the beginning of the song,Madonna promises to "put you in a trance" and she doesn't disappoint.Naughty and bold.

"Deeper And Deeper"---without question,this is one of Madonna's greatest dance tracks.It is obviously a homage to 70s disco,which makes me love it even more,lol.You gotta love the Spanish guitar breakdown part (clearly inspired by Santa Esmeralda,a 70s disco act).A truly mesmerizing song that can be considered "classic Madonna".

"Words"---One thing I really like about this album is,many of the songs have sad melodies and themes.It's not the big,celebratory dance album that it appears to be.Madonna digs deeper,with poignant lyrics and hauntingly sad melodies."Words" is the best example of this.

"Why's It So Hard?"---I remember when this CD was released,one of the reviews pointed out that the album doesn't quite live up to its title.The critic asked "Why would she title a song "Why's It So Hard" and make it about world peace?"...lol...I love the deceptive nature of this album.This song is a fun,bouncy highlight.

I don't like the "Deeper And Deeper" video.The song is amazing,it deserved a better,more exciting video.
