One of the greatest slow jams ever music Surprisingly, this song was never released as a single.Like Rick James' "Fire And Desire",it was just a popular album track that radio stations picked up on.

Yes! Love's Train is a classic.

I know. It's insane. I remember hearing Love's Train and
Ms.Got the Body more than any other singles that were
released on the album. In fact i had not even heard of
the other songs from this album. I think this album and
the 7 album which i have on CD now were the only 80's
albums of theirs i didn't have.

Bone made me stand up and get into the groove

This album is also notable for "Ain't Nobody Baby",the funky first single headbang That's one of their most underrated jams.

I have to search for it. I don't recall hearing that one.
I see it only charted #31 r&b.

You don't remember "Ain't Nobody,Baby"?? lol It was the first single from the album.Released in the fall of 1982.It starts off with a crowd chanting:

E.T...E.T...phone home,phone home!
E.T....E.T...phone home,phone home!

Remember when everyone used to say that? lol

A very funky tune, about a lady who mesmerizes everyone when she dances...

cuz,there ain't nobody baby
(who) can party like you
I said there ain't nobody,baby
(that) can do the things you do

It includes a brief rap during the bridge.I'm surprised that this song only reached #31 on the R&B charts shrug I like it even better than "Too Tight".

What do these three classic slow jams have in common?

"Reasons" by Earth Wind and Fire (1975)
"Fire And Desire" by Rick James and Teena Marie (1981)
"Love's Train" by Con Funk Shun (1982)

NONE of these songs were released as singles! Amazing, isn't it? These tunes are always played on the radio,as if they were singles!

Con Funk Shun were a little pissed that "Love's Train" didnt become a single. They felt that it was a surefire Top 10 R&B smash, but they should look at it another way: NOT releasing it as a single meant that fans had to go out and buy the album if they wanted to own that song.More album sales for them. This is why Rick James didn't care that "Fire And Desire" wasn't a single. He knew that it increased his album sales.

That is something. I had no idea that Reasons and Fire and Desire weren't singles as well yet everyone knows those songs. Adore wasn't a single either and everyone knows that too. I guess sometimes it pays NOT to release certain songs from albums.

I also remember that same year Midnight Star's "Slow Jam" was played everywhere during the quiet storm segments of R&B radio, and I worked at a dance club where it was one of the most requested ballads for people to dance and hook up to. hug kisses Yet like the other tracks, it also wasn't released as a single.
