Is This New Disney Kid The Next "Prince" of Her generation? Judge for yourself

This kid makes me think this is what Prince must have been like when he was 12.
She writes her own music, plays lots of instruments, parents are musicians too.

Disney might just be onto something. What do you think?

yep, she reminds me as Prince because of the many instrument she plays, and she could sing for real. Not trying to hate, but let see if her voice changes in a few years just like bobby brown.

I don't mean to brag - well, maybe I do - but my daughter's 13 and she's light years ahead of that girl. She can play as many instruments, and sing better.

That young girl might aspire to sing with Prince one day, but my daughter already has - twice, when she was 8.

OK I gotta stop bragging now.

I say put up or shut up Rodeo.Surely you took pics of her singing with Prince? Why not post one?
Post some video of her singing while you're at it,let The ORG be the judge.I haven't seen many kids on Youtube as talented as this girl ,Gabi.

If I had heard her voice without seeing her I would have instantly wanted to know who she is. Soulful gorgeous voice. I would also never have thought she was so young. I just hope they don't make her grow up too soon.

I saw this girl on the Today Show a year or two back singing Alicia Keys. She was only 10 or so at the time and sounded great, singing and playing piano. Bit disappointing to see her pop up on Disney, she's way too talented for the Disney machine.

I love the way that she's so much smarter and more mature than the dumb bimbo presenter! (same on the Today Show when she was 10, BTW)
But that has nothing to do with her talent - my 5 y.o's smarter and more amture than those presenters.
Back on-topic: Yes she's amazing. Hope she develops her own direction and doesn't become another TC.

She's great! But the whole thing is also a little bit scary... The way she talks and the sound of her voice sounds so mature - like she's in her twenties or somethin...

There already are artists that influenced popular music moreso than they way he did, especially old gospel and blues artists.

Prince is undeniably an important artist in pop culture though.

I took one pic, and then only by the kindness of the security guard (I was in the front row and pretty obvious). Here it is:

Unfortunately, neither of the shows where she sang with Prince were bootlegged, audio or video. Believe me, I have looked!

Here are the org threads about her experiences:

San Antonio
http://www.prince.org/msg/12/97732

Houston
http://www.prince.org/msg/12/105587

They wrote a newspaper article about her in San Antonio but the link is old (I have about 50 copies of it, though!).

Thanks for the links, nice story.
I don't see what's wrong with her singing for Disney. Christine Aguelira sang Reflection for Mulan and it was gorgeous. It's a great place for a young girl to start.

The simple fact that she's selling her soul to Disney answers your question.

It's an interesting dilemma. Disney can be a big break, with lots of exposure and money right now. You get a first-class organization with more resources than anyone out there. That's hard to pass up.

On the other hand, with the possible exception of Hillary Duff, once your career at Disney is done, you're done too. So taking the quick money and exposure is probably not a good long-term move. But if you go another route, it's probably going to be harder to make it. There are only so many Taylor Swifts out there.

I can understand why someone would go with Disney and the sure money right now.

I wouldn't call jumping on stage with an artist "singing" with them. Most bands at some point during their show let audience members up on stage to "sing" with them, especially if they're sitting in the front row of every show from DC to Frisco.
Nevertheless,I'm sure you and your daughter were VERY excited to be on stage with Prince.
I think PRINCE might be excited to be on stage with this little girl GABI.

You get put in a straight-jacket, your personality gets erased and afterwards you spend years getting rid of the squeeky clean image and proving you are talented.

Also, she's what, 12? How many "child talents" have grown up to become major artists? And of those, how many made relevant art back when they were kids?

Yeah, the point is that maybe this is your only shot. Maybe you're only going to get a crack at the big time right now. Maybe when you're 18, you're going to be just another pretty face.

So that's one reason why you go with Disney. I can understand that.

I wouldn't either but it was more than that. And they specifically pulled her up onstage in Houston, after seeing she was in the crowd.
