wait, did she just admit to being offered a part in The Color Purple but turned it down? Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely. | |

I'm with ya'll though The third part of the clip was about Steven Speilberg wanting her to be in some movie in 1985. (The Color Purple, maybe?) And she tells Spielberg that she can't sing without undressing. (LOL) He tell her to just come in and they'll make it work. [Edited 9/21/09 16:22pm] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Chaka doesn't know how to act, and Tina said she already lived that life with Ike, and doesn't want to relive it on the screen. Wasn't Chaka, Patti & Tina all given the part of Miss Shug and they didn't wanna do it? nWo (aka FUNK 3.0): bboy87 - timmy84 - muthafunka - littleBLUEcorvette - phunkdaddy - christopher

The movie was amajor hit but if you know your limitations or just aren't into the role why try to fake it. Frankly, I couldn't see Chaka or Tina playing Miss Shug. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I can definately see both ladies playing the part of Shug. I think they would have done outstanding jobs! And there would have been no need for Tata Vega's singing. Chaka's mother used to run her fan club back in the 80s and, according to her, the role required Chaka to do certain things she was not willing to do. I always thought after Steven revealed to her she would have to kiss Whoopi, Chaka immediately back out. Dorothy: When Stan is depressed, he is the second most boring man on earth.
