Whole foods isn't the only grocery store. Vegetables & lean meats are sold everywhere. YOU stop fooling yourself lol

-----
The next time you go to the ghetto look around and see if you see a Safeway or large chain grocery store. You will find small markets that sell those lean meats and vegetables at ridculous marketed up prices.

In Washington D.C. the S.E. area just recently had a new Safeway open after not having a large chain grocery store for almost 40 years.

Yet you will find many poor areas of the cities with overpriced markets, liquer stores and fast food chains. The only real solution is the recent idea of urban gardens.

so what's their excuse for eating unhealthy when big pun was alive? I think its a matter of bad habits not lack of choice. I can shop at Aldi's and find fresh healthy foods, may not be brand name all the time but healthy still. And there is always the way food is prepared (baked chicken instead of fried) just sayin.

well him beating his wife's ass for so long and in such horrible manner is horrible and good thing for him he's dead. reap what you sow.

And shiit let her come out with the vid and interviews about her abuse, if that's a way for her to make money then so be it. Pun's fat ass didn't provide properly for his children and his wife. Sure wifey could get a job but why does she have to? other celeb widows didn't have to. divorcees neither. meanwhile, joe and others are getting paid off sampling pun and his kids get zilch. it's very sad i think.

She was trying to live above her means. cool
They are not hungry that is for sure.
I am not sure what's wrong, but it's probably your fault!

I hear you, & I know it's hard for people to get around w/o a car. I lived in "the ghetto" for years & had to drive to the next city to hit a decent grocery store so I know the feeling. But again, people make choices. If you wanna raise some fat-ass kids who won't know how to eat properly, you go the fast food route. If you want to raise healthy children & teach them how to eat, you hit the grocery store once a week & buy MEALS & prepare them. I just don't see the benefit in making excuses for folks who are making conscious decisions to fuck themselves & their kids up. I see it in my own family & I just can't respect it...

See this comment is the problem sister. You seem kind of coldblooded and maybe your putting your issues with your own people into it but in the inner city, people have had poor eating habits that go back to slavery. It is about culture, lack of money, and choices (as in no decent places to buy good food)

You got to solve a problem by figuring out why it is happening in the first place not rant that people should just know better because obviously with the high rate of obesity, strokes and diabetics large majority of people in inner city communities don't know any better.

In addition, had it not occurred to you that these kids were going to have to battle obesity because both parents were overweight? It is sometimes just in the genes and then you really have to take the time to teach people how to eat healthy which is something you certainly are not seeing in the public schools these days.

Anyway I will get off my soapbox and you can go back to your rant with no solution.

Whatever, Laura neutral I know the kids are gonna have it rough. The PARENTS should have done better for them. & keep in mind this particular family didn't always have it rough - they had some $ & made fucked up choices with it. I mean really - there comes a point when you have to stop blaming others & start to look @ yourself & what you're doing. There's all kinds of info out there about fast food being one of the worst things you can do to your body, but if individuals don't make an effort to eat better for themselves wtf is anyone supposed to do for them? Again, I'm not blaming the kids but I sure as hell blame the parent for providing shitty food & promoting bad eating habits. My solution is to take responsibility for the choices we make, & to live up to the promise of bringing lives into this world. Be an example to your children & raise them to do what's right, which includes knowing what & how much to eat. Sorry if that's too "cold" for you, but it's realistic. The garden thing is great, but who the hell has time to wait around for that? This is something people can commit to NOW. There are buses that will take a mf to a real store. There are feet that can walk a mf to a real store. On the way home from work, surely someone is near enough to a grocery store to stop in. & there are neighbors who might have cars & help someone out w/ a ride if they know they're in need (which I used to do back in the day for an older lady w/ no car). Cut the excuses, I just don't buy this "we can't do any better" shit hammer

Well if fast food are some people's only option, there's still healthy salads that are now offered at almost every fast food restaurant these days. Not to say that ordering fast food salads will help you drop weight, because it won't if you keep getting ranch dressing with bacon and croutons in them, but if you choose a nice vinagrette dressing with one protein and a healthy helping of veggies, then the fast food meal could turn into a healthy one. It's all about the choices you make.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

but aren't many poor people overweight? nutritionally deficient foods (which tend to be cheap) are full of sugar and artificial ingredients that contribute to weight gain. To assume that pun's widow and children aren't hurting financially just b/c they are fat is assinine.

but uh...she didn't have anything she could have sold to make ends meet? Pun didn't leave behind any jewelry, letters, unfinished songs/recordings, cars, or nothing?

the kids have no grandparents to help them out?

I don't think anyone is saying they aren't hurting financially b/c of their weight. My observation was purely out of crassness innocent clearly they're having a hard time if they're in a shelter...
