Sydney Youngblood - I'd rather go blind

Back in the day, I used to be fascinated with a song entitled, " I'd rather go blind," I think the artist was Syndey Youngblood. I enjoyed his version, and I realize that it is cover of an older artist, but does anyone remember this version?
