Does madonna like britney because she has no talent so is not a threat to her music?

The madge and brit affair...good friends or just marketing and PR...

Madge has done everything with the limited talent she has....pushed the boat right out...been butt naked..
Britney can't do much more? with even less talent...all she got left is taking all her clothes off?

Do you think her career can last that of madge?

I'll agree Madonna needs to stop leeching off other artists but really, Britney is a complete threat to Madonna in every way.

i've often suspected it.

The best part of that video is how easily a comedy group, that works on a weekly schedule, can produce a song that could easily pass for a song from a Britney or Madonna album. It speaks to the throwaway nature of their music.

oh, and what pisses me off is Britney's videos. Madonna def had some artistic ambitions with soem of her videos, i.e. they were inspired by old books/movies/fashion icons etc or she did use modern techniques...

On the other hand I just hate those comedy style videos Britney does (and Pink! as well) where she slips into all kind of roles and tries to do something funny.

I think Madonna has a lot more talent than Britney. One of those being a very saavy business woman. I don't understand the comparison, other than that they are both female and make pop music. Madonna has pushed the envelope in more ways than Britney ever will. Their career paths also have been very different.

That said, I doubt anyone can ever have a career like Madonna. I think that that particular type of superstar can no longer exist in the entertainment world. Sure you'll find those that have longevity, but none will ever match Madonnas Super (or Mega) star status.

I think she sees they're similar. Not too talented, not too beautiful, banking on their bodies/sexuality, and somewhat savvy in their choices for surrounding themselves with talent and generating interest & buzz.

I doubt Britney is anywhere near as smart as Madonna, however, and I doubt she'll be able to survive losing her youthful looks the way Madonna has.

Mostly I think Madonna sees Britney as an offshoot of herself. Not a true equal but someone who wouldn't exist without her having paved the way. Madonna acknowledging Brit is like saying "see I have been influential!"

my sentiments exactly. i think it's why she didn't bond with christina aguilera in the same way. though christina has had her forays into hyping her sexuality, there was still something to back that up. she's moved on from that, for the most part, because she can. madonna, on the other hand, is posing for her album cover spread eagle like she's still 30 years old.
