Keth Harrison, I still see him all the time. He left Faze-O and played with the Dazz Band. Cold ass brother. Has a gospel group called Keith and Valeria. One thing about Dayton, Ohio. Dayton is an artsy city. All the schools here had music programs and back in the day, you couldn't meet a kid especially a black kid who couldn't play an instrument. Music was a class you took from Kindergarten all they way to the 8th grade. That is why you had the kid prodigys at age 11! Junie Morrison started with the Ohio Players when he was 16 or 17. Slave were high school kids. That is why you had battle of the bands. It was very popular here. That is why there were so many groups from Dayton. When the establishment saw that we could evolve and rise through music and have some form of independence, they took them out of the black schools. Then there was nothing to do after school but get in trouble. Yeah i believe some actor/president named Ronald Reagan had something to do with that. The same thing musically was happening in minneapolis too. I would have loved to have grown up in dayton around this time. I remember slave being very young at the time. True, they yanked the rug on all the positive social programs. As Richard Pryor said, "The problem is you put people into situations they can't get out of...and when those people fail, y'all just point, and say, "See?".....

Now, inner city kids can't get the music scholarships for college because they can't read music. They just wanna rap because it is made to be cool to bling and have women. I am not racist at all, but everytime I see the college bands on television especially the big universities, I see all those fat kids blowing 3 notes on a tuba getting a first class education (indocrination) for free, I can just cringe.

Just imagine walking home from school and seeing Sugarfoot on a step at his house playing an acoustic guitar, seeing Satch ride his Excalibur past your school because he lived next door to your school, you are buying candy after school at the candy store and Roger is behind you in line, walking home after school and Slave is practicing in the garage...oh man the stories are endless.
