Only got 11 of that list I think. Most bought in Europe so they don't count there.

Even though it's selling, I really thought it would do better in the first few week than it's doing.

i dont get this whole rhianna thing, she appears to be the hottest thing in the game, she always seem to have a hit single out but her album sales are very mediocre. also based on mariah's last album is her current project considered a flop?

I wont call mariah a flop considering that the last album was rather a surprise hit so she is back to her normal numbers but ushers numbers r shocking however confessions was once in a lifetime hit.

with a bullet, baby!!!! 4066 albums! This illegal downloading business has to stop. Besides, it doesn't affect everybody in the same way. If your music targets the college market you're dead.

Mariahs is a big disaster because the sales were poor overseas too, but the bigger thing for the label is the $$ it shelled out with nothing generated back, she isnt going to tour, the sales didnt even come close to forecast, and with the big hype LA reid made over this and Janet, he looks quite the fool now. To put this in some sort of perspective from a "bottom line" point, Mariah has sold 1.1 million of this new record with 20+ million in promotion spent, press,tv,videos, airplay etc...the new Journey cd "revelation" has sold close to 500,000 for a band with a brand new lead singer, no investment, no promo, no label backing. Do you know how many unknown "talents" wish they could sell 1,676,005 copies of their own albums in 2008, the year of the mp3 players' world domination?

True but also too remember they have lumped the sales of this album twice, so basically they have sold it twice with the re-issue, i still say re-issues should be counted seperate. But its also a perspective thing that people are forgetting, i hear people complaining about artists they like selling 5-6,000 copies of a record, you have to look at the investment, are they getting 24/7 play? are they on every magazine cover? are they on tv shows etc? do they have a label backing them? Its more about what you are paying and getting in return. Rick Springfield - Venus in Overdrive check out Stefani Vara "Water" http://www.myspace.com/stefanivara

If your music targets the college market you're dead. yeah, it sucks. i will admit, i downloaded the new stereolab album before it came out, but when it hit the shelves i bought an actual copy - partially because i wanted better sound, but mostly because i'm a stereolab fammy fam and i gotta have the album art and i just like supporting 'em. but yeah...most people wouldn't go that route. |

Def Jam may have expected bigger numbers from Mariah but considering the content they should be happy it’s where it’s at especially the way certain albums have dropped off. It’s actually hanging in there. If you don't change, reality in the end forces that change upon you.--S. Wilde
