The Ronettes Appreciation Thread

Show some love for the "First Bad Girls of Rock & Roll!"



This is a group that seemingly doesn't get it's just do in comparison to the more successful girl-groups of their time (thankfully the RRHOF isn't one of them). Their Spector catalogue has not ONE flaw. If there's anything more heavenly than Ronnie's patented "Whoa-Oh-Whoa-Oh's", please let me know because I've yet to hear it.

whenever I see old footage of them I have a major crush on Ronnie for a day

I love Ronnie Spector. Her solo albums rock.

Can someone clear something up, are they black or white? I keep seeing different pictures of them where they're either black or white.

"Be My Baby" is a great, great tune.

It's one of my fave girl group songs, a little bit below Shirelles' Baby It's You.

Seriously though, it seems that The Ultimate Collection is being mainly touted for having stereo mixes of the classic Ronettes singles.
For the purist, that's a direct contrast to Phil Spector's sonic vision.
His "Wall of Sound" mixes were based on the fact that they would be heard on AM radio, a MONO medium.




...Back To Mono (1958-1969) is a 60 track box set and a nice Phil Spector production retrospective.

I Looooove some Ronettes, they used to get confused with the Crystals alot.

Which isn't unusual. Some get Martha and the Vandellas confused with The Marvelettes.

I love the Ronettes, as well as a lot of other stuff coming out of Phil Spector's studio's.

The bonus of the Back To Mono box is of course the Christmas album, that was not re-issued before when the box came out.
