"while he's givin' head to some Republican senator" (seems appropriate this year)

Ani's amazing. The album this is from is one of my favorites of hers. It's one of her best lyrical works ever.

Great disc. My fave by her is "Dilate". That was my 1st introduction to her and she plays everything on it. I love Ani.

I'm not a Republican and she's still annoying and her music sucks.

No, I'm Democrat. But that doesn't mean I'm going to raise my lighter to every unbathed, over-rated hippie chic with a guitar who sings anti-violence lyrics, no matter how crappy the song is. I hated this song when it was on the first NPG podcast. Reminds me of some bullshit they play on public radio.

Excellent album, by a unique and brilliant musician who has ideas, some of which I agree and some I don't but hey it's her forum to speak on.

Her concerts get a little annoying with all the chicks yelling "we love you Ani" but she is a fantastic guitar player that all you Dave Matthew fans should note what an acoustic guitar player should sound like.

She started her own label before it was the in thing and has yet to sell out which is more than half the artists we talk about everyday.

She has written some amazing songs, and deserves at least as many topics as Janet.... LOL

This is a good album. I think her music begins to get some better melodies & hooks here.

I've always appreciated her intelligence, independence, music, lyrics, but she was always missing the sparkle that attracts me to a great song.

[RANT]she's a MUSICIAN. MUSICian. Get it? I'm not saying people should have no theme, message, or clever wordplay, but if that's all you got, be a writer. Nothing's wrong with it. And what the hell does her litte backstory have to do with anything?

That kills me. People are so caught up in industry marketing BS and music is in such a sad place that when you tell someone,"Dude, that song sucks," they'll respond with

"but you don't understand they were raised in a box and they wrote a song for another totally shit artist that went all the way to number one on the payola charts and and and their lyrics are so fucking brilliant, I mean what's more genius than reciting cliche anti-whatever ideas while playing two chords"

I mean come the hell on.

And, yes, I know her little(most likely fake or exaggerated)story and who cares...she can't jam and has no jams[/RANT]

Dance,

I disagree.. She uses complex chords/structure(more than 2), she has also gotten more intricate in her melodies.

Bottom line, regardless of her back story.... She is a musician who is very talented on guitar, has a very good voice on most tracks, uses vocal harmonies well, and can and has, hate to use the term jam with major artists that are well respected

I understand you may not like her songs, but I really think you are using a lowest denominator approach... "anti whatever over 2 chords"

Have you really listened to her stuff?

one of many things I give her credit for is being independent from the very beginning of her career and developing a following and making it on her own steam, with just the music alone and touring, no major labor support and she never had plans to sign with a major
