This song is funny to me.You don't really hear Sylvester very much. His backup singers (Two Tons of Fun) are doing all the singing lol It seems that Sylvester's only contribution to this song is the line "come on and dance" which he repeats over and over.

"I just woke up from a fuzzy dream....you never would believe the things that I have seen".

Well that disco heat tune was just throw away stuff as far as I'm concerned but the brotha (sistah?) could really sing when he wanted to.

This is the one that does it for me but he doesn't really start singing until after 4 minutes:

He doesn't sing too much on that particular track but that whore can sing though. You should hear his remake to Patti LaBelle's "You Are My Friend". His version puts Patti's to shame.

I'm sure you've probably heard "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)" which was a disco hit he was most famous for. He's singing on that one. You'd remember it if you heard it again.

Sylvester also remade "Lover Man (Where Can You Be)" on his live album and kept the lyrics as "Man" rather than changing them to "Woman". He even dedicated the next track out loud, "Sharing Something Perfect Between Ourselves" to his male lover. That bitch was waaaaay before his time.

Sylvester was the shit, and I just thought he was great. He got his start with the Cockettes in 1970 and became a oneman/woman/ drag queen act afterwards, turning his hand to disco. But his greatest song I think was 1982's Hi NRG classic "Do you wanna funk with me". Part of the song is on Trading Places, where its abruptly ripped off the hi fi when Eddie Murphy (Bill Ray Valentine), says "Get the Fuck out!". It still cracks me up to this day

I LOVE this song. I heard it on the radio here in NYC a couple of years ago and I loved it instantly. And Martha and Izora KILLED it on this song. They don't make dance jams like this anymore and that's a damn shame.

Oh I think I can hear Sylvester throughout the song. I think he's just singing in a deeper register and not just on the line "Come On and Dance."

One of the best disco records ever, I think. The bassline/guitar riff on this is HELLA bangin'.

nammie "What BGZ says I believe. I have the biggest crush on him."
