Don't know if there are any Anime fans here, but one of the great things about the Japanese animated cartoon series (and animated movie) "CowboyBebop" was the eclectic series of soundtracks by Yoko Kanno and various artists. The music ranged from Big-Band Jazz to Rock, Pop, Soul, World, Electro, and beyond...here are just a few examples:

I love some Anime, but I've not watched Cowboy Bebop before
Gotta come back and listen to some of these clips

Loved this series, especially the music. My fav tunes were the one in the first episode and in the episode where Ed searches for her Father, which, ironically, I don't think are posted The best by far though was "Ask DNA" from the movie...that opening was really cool.

And yes, the Macross Plus soundtrack as mentioned above is amazing.
