Ass Shaker of the Day: "So Ruff, So Tuff" by Roger

This is my alltime favorite jam from Roger or Zapp. This one's really funky as hell. Anybody into this one?

Roger's version was the first that I had heard of that song. The same goes with Amii Stewart and "Knock On Wood". When I heard the originals later, I thought...."hell no, too slow". lol

See, back in those days when artists remade songs, they made them faster so they could jam to them. Nowadays, it's the exact opposite. These dull asses remake everything slower. I've never seen nothing like it in my life. They had lost all sense of rhythm. And it's not like they like a few things slow. They like everything slow.

I was like that with "Knock on Wood". I didn't know that anyone else had done it. When I heard the original from Eddie Floyd (which is the one my parents liked), I was bored stiff.

Now, I was totally opposite on Grapevine. I didn't realize that Roger's was a remake at the time because almost everything about the song changed. I was very familiar with Marvin's version (which I still love his haunting version), bu Roger's makes u wanna shake ur ass.

Blanche: Oh, I do love the rain so! It reminds me of my first kiss.
Dorothy: Awww, your first kiss was in the rain...
Blanche: No, it was in the shower.

The version on Zapp and Roger's Greatest Hits is an album edit. Its only 6:48.

The version on the album is 10+minutes. There is also a single edit that is around 4 minutes that is included on the reissue cd.

You just can't fuck with this jam! Too hot, one of my favorites from Roger for sure. This one and "Heartbreaker" would both be in my Zapp/Roger top 5.
