I would have agreed with you when it came to Erykah's first CD, but I don't think so, now. IMO, Ms. Badu seems like one big gimmick. While her first CD was a masterpiece, everything else that she has come out with has just been subpar.

What I do find extraoprdinary about Prince.org, is how they trash great black singers like, and praise average vocalist like Amy, Joss Stone, or Fergie...

Saying that ANY singer under a certain age is the best singer alive is a stretch at best.

Ultimately, it's a bit of a silly statement. She once was a great singer and now she's H-addict barely managing to get through each day that either neeeds to get clean or she will die.

Apparently what you have listened to is years after the rest of us have, and you are not familaiar with her current state of voice in between nods, that being, she no longer HAS ONE.

The Amy Winehouse you hear on your cd is dead. At the moment she's not the best at singing anything. Be excited for the discovery you have made in what talent she used to have (and may hopefully re-capture),but don't overstate it. It's not going to do anything but cause a lot of needless friction up in here smoker

I think Amy's a huge step up from Joss & Fergie. She sounds like a real singer, not a pop fabrication. She may be copying soul of the 60's but it sounds genuine, unlike Joss who definitely sounds posed.

But I'd agree she's not the best singer alive.

lol I don’t even take this thread seriously. She is a fraction of what she was (which was not the best singer alive) but if they put a bow on it and market it right some people will buy into anything.
