Nothing beats Marvin & Tammi, and it's ridiculous to suggest that it can be done

There's something more urgent about Lynn and Vandross' delivery that gets me from Luther's FIRST note. Definitely sexier. Tammi Terrell was soooo cute. Did ya'll know she was hooked up with James Brown and David (crazy ass) Ruffin of the Temptations and they both were physically abusive to her??? I agree, and I definitely prefer his cover of "If This World Were Mine" with Cheryl Lynn. It's more soulful.Throughout the 80s,Luther was a master at remaking songs and taking them to another whole level. His remake of "Creepin" is at least as good as Stevie's original. Of course minus the disastrous cover "Album" he made in the early 90's. What a hot mess
Again,I agree with you.Luther's remakes are usually superb, but that 'Songs' album is a snoozefest, especially the "Endless Love" remake with Mariah Carey

Speaking of remakes, you know you a bad mofo when you take The Carpenters version of superstar and make it ridiculously soulful. Luther, even when doing covers, was a COMPLETE original. I still cry when I hear his songs on the radio. I miss him. You don't need directions and you don't need cash.
