This is one of the times when an album truly lives up to its reputation. It's perfect in every way lyrically, musically.

Every artist has ONE album in his carreer where all his/her artistry is on top of everything. Blue is Joni Mitchell's most accomplished, most loved album. It brings together her amazing voice, songwriting and arranging skills. It was the one album where she wrote off all the, well, blues that she had inside of her, with themes that touch upon her love affairs, her view on the world and most important, her giving her daughter up for adoption. That last subject is the theme for Little Green. Listen to that with the knowledge of her giving up her daughter and it even becomes more tangible.
