REM's ACCELERATE - DISCUSSION THREAD...it has leaked

Tiny review:

Living Well Is the Best Revenge - 4/5

Very fast song. Remind me of IRS material. But it's that twangy guitar from that era. The drumming is great.

Man-Sized Wreath - 3/5

Reminds of me of Green. Once again a very lo-fi approache. Nice drumming...The harmomies of the chorus are pure REM.

Supernatural Superserious - 4/5

The current. I like it.

Hollow Man - 5/5

The first slow song. Piano intro. The it speeds. Will work great in radio. Nice changes in the tempo.

I enjoy the lyrics.

Houston - 4/5

The acoustic guitar arrangments are very in synch with the Automatic for the people. It's political. Only 2 minutes.

Accelerate - 3/5

Fast song. And once again very lo-fi and raw approach. No lush melodies. Straighfoward.

I start to think that they really are trying to get the IRS sound back.

Until the Day Is Done - 5/5

Acoustic song. Reminds me of Texarcana...

Mr. Richards - 3/5

The Monster song. I have mixed feeling about this one.Too early to have opinion.

Sing for the Submarine - 4/5

Love the guitars. Probably the best until now.

Horse to Water - 3/5

Another rock tune. The chorus is very...basic.

I'm Gonna DJ - 5/5

One of my favorite songs. Very similar to the live version released. Still this song works better in the live context

OVERALL 3,5 / 5

Why (negatives and positive points mixed):

- the mixing is horrible.
- it's a short album, i like it that way
- the drumming is better, their session drummer did a great job
- the lyrics are rather weak (you can actually understand the message...and that's not REM's legacy) lol
- it's a zest of fresh air. 180 turn from the around the world slow wave...

I like the album...

This is going to easily be one of the best cds of the year!

The mixing does sound a little weird, huh? Can't tell if it's an intentional throwback to the IRS days, or if it's just bad MP3 ripping, or if it's just a bad job. Could definitely use a bit more bass or something.

But overall, yeah, excellent album!

Loved the single.
Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.
