Sam Cooke One of the most beautiful voices in history. I adore this man's voice. It can send shiffers down my spine and touch me in ways not many a singer can.

Very nice thread. Sam was a maverick. No if and buts about it. Vocally, as a songwriter and as a businessman. Huge influence on my father, Eddie Campbell of Eddie and Ernie. I own damn near everything Sam has ever recorded. Even when he was with the Soul Stirrers. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

My favorite Sam Cooke song has always been, "Bring it on home". This song always makes me wish that he was still around. It also gives us a taste of Lou Rawls, who sang background vocals. It will always be my favorite song of his... "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"

Sam Cooke was a soldier 'til the tragic end of his short life. He's the captain of the ship we call SOUL MUSIC. nWo (aka FUNK 3.0): bboy87 - timmy84 - muthafunka - littleBLUEcorvette - phunkdaddy - christopher

I did something stupid tonight. While browsing for pictures for this thread, I came across of a picture of Sam Cooke, lying dead on the crime scene. It was such a shock; horrid to see, but I still saved it.

I also loved how he took a gospel tune 'Wonderful' and turned it into a love song "Lovable." So Madonna of him. I'm not mad at you, I'm mad at the dirt.

A Change Is Gonna Come is my fav too. Remember when Spike Lee used it in the movie Malcolm X it made that scene so powerful and poignant. You're a Campbell? "After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill...the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill...you stay in wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes."

Just type in Eddie and Ernie Page. Page isn't a last name but it's a page that gives a write up about them. It even mentions me. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. In that context, it's a whole different bag. Sam released this in the midst of what he was actually singing about. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 Very true. As I posted earlier in this thread, he was a HUGE influence on my dad. And my dad was a great vocalist himself. The best rock vocalist ever and one of the best singers in music in general was Steve Perry. Steve was very influenced by Sam as well and showed it. Steve's riffs are very Sam.
