All of Discipline isn't about sex, people take one or two songs and write it off as a sex album! It also happened with Velvet Rope, just cause of 2 tracks. That album got banned in Singapore for nothing, as did All For You, and I'm glad she didn't change the lyrics for any goody two shoes!

I don't mind if she's into it though it can get annoying hearing her being repetitive about it, but now I just ignore it and enjoy the music, cause this time around, the music is fabulous, in my opinion! What used to annoy me were all the slutty pictures she took during 20 YO, she just looked so stupid and out of place in them.

Well she is in s&m clothing on the cover and inside and the pre-listening party had girls with leather and whips n stuff confuse

However this is really a dance record and a fun album. There is nothing wrong with it, other than jan not having any input..but this is what she wanted. I like it wee bit more than 20 YO..however the slow jams .. other than Cant Be Good and Whats Your Name I can do without...

"Discipline" is The Number One Album, But..."

Dislodging Jack Johnson from the top after a three-week reign, Janet Jackson's "Discipline" bows at No. 1 on The Billboard 200. The Island Def Jam set moved 181,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen Soundscan, becoming the artist's sixth chart-topper.

Her last two Virgin albums, 2004's "Damita Jo" and 2006's "20 Y.O.," both debuted and peaked at No. 2, though "Damita" started with 381,000 while "20 Y.O." began with 296,000.

20YO-Janet loves JD!

Discipline-JD LOVES JD! He is writing loves songs to himself about himself! Seriously, maybe it's submissiveness? It's maybe not the concept, but the creation of his album is all about Janet being disciplined by men (as songwriters, as CEOs, etc.).

Can't wait for Janet to be on SNL. Even thought it did nothing for her to promote on there, I thought she was excellent when she appeared on there for the rounds on DJ.

As for "Rough" appearing anywhere, it it does, I assume it will be a Virgin greatest hits set (would she have any say in this at all?). I doubt she will seriously record it for a new album.

i thought it was a very brave move to do "Strawberry Bounce" on SNL. I for one was scared of her doing a "strip tease that bring u to your knees" at 40. disbelief How are young girls supposed to look UP to that?

Disciplined by men? I wholefully agree. It seems the title was made after the song..however The theme of discipline is only showed on the s&m track, and the s&m clothing... I thought there would be songs about being more in control of your life...but there were none.

Enjoy was the last 'positive message'-like song Janet done and it took me back to The Velvet Rope.

I agree... you expect something else.. and still get topixs about sex...

discipline should have been about her working hard, staying focus and encoraging people to do as well...

but no she had to mess it up with all the sex talk

I loved the performance of Strawberry Bounce! The whole thing more artisticly daring than I thought she'd do. In some ways it makes me happy to think of Gil doing an entire tour like that. And speaking from a Kinkster presecptive the submissive end up being the one in control of the scene.

Congrats to Janet for a well-deserved number 1 album! I'm even more thrilled with "Feedback" streaking to number 19! This song deserves to be a hit, and although #19 doesn't make it a hit, it does make it her highest charting single since "Someone to Call My Lover", I believe!

lol Didn't see this when I posted. "Luv" and "Rock With U" making the top 100 would be great as well, as I think it would make Discipline the first album with 3 Hot 100 entries since All for You.

Since when is a Top 20 song not a hit question

Anyhoo, this is also her biggest-selling single since All For You. It should pass 500k in 2-3 weeks to overtake All For You.

hmm It's probably no coincidence that the interview is scripted to a degree. The only element of surprise/vulnerability was with Tyra's tatic play with Janet during the dance moves.

Well, it's difficult territory to tread. It's a hit in my book, but for an artist of Janet's stature, a number 19 chart placing isn't going to turn too many heads, regardless of the fact that she hasn't had a top 20 hit in 7 years.

That said, I'm thrilled to see it reach the upper echelon of the chart. I think it at least won't be considered a "flop" now (another term with a somewhat nebulous definition).

For the shit she's had to deal with chart-wise over the past while, #19 is a hit and I can't spin it otherwise. I consider Top 20 a modest hit for any artist.
