What's The Org's Take On The Black Crowes

Digging through my box-o-cassettes I have rediscovered my love for the Black Crowe's The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion and was wondering if any of the rest of their collection is worth a purchase. Anybody a fan of theirs here?

On another note, I do believe this thread is proof that I don't only listen to lesbian music. razz

IMO, that cassette is where they topped out, the rest of the stuff afterward has it's moments but nothing compared the Southern Harmony

The lead singer is cute...in a hippish way.

Don't care much for them.

They sound awesome live. "Southern Harmony" and "Money Maker" are both cool. "She Talks to Angels" is an awesome song. I also dig "Sting Me" and "Remedy." cool

"Thorn in My Pride" is pretty damn good too.

I wore the HELL out of that cd!

ummmm, uhh...tracy chapman?

seriously though, kinda sucks that Southern Harmony was their artistic peak because I love love love this album. For some odd reason I've always thought She Talked To Angels was on it...don't know why.

Saw them, Cree Summer and Lenny Kravitz a few years ago, and the Crowes killed it. I dont own any of their music, but they are a hellafied live act.

Closest I've ever come is when Marc Ford joined Ben Harper's Innocent Criminals band. Ford has also come out to jam with Warren Haynes on a few LA stops. i don't know if he doesn't get along with Chris Robinson, founder of the Crowes, but he doesn't do anything with tem anymore. A lot of alcohol abuse is at the basis of this separation.

Probably one of the best rock bands of the last 20 years, very underrated but well respected among their peers.
