these boys gave me so much pleasure back in the early 90's and told it how it was!

my heart was broken when Professor X passed away. I saw Brother J on Def Jam's Poetry and the whole crowd stood up in applause.

their 2nd album xodus is my favorite but still don't sleep on their 1st album cause my favorite line from Grand Verbilazer is "how deep is u'r blackness..deeper than atlantis!"

even professor x's solo albums were cool, but stil left a little 2 b desired. Xclan works have been influenced by many hip hop acts, including Ice Cube and even Eminem (check out how he reflects on the track yellow brick road from Encore)

what was great about them is also how they had it xtending 2 Isis and Queen Mother Rage.

Easily the most Afrocentric rap group ever. Imagine if Malcolm X, Marcus Garvey, Funkadelic, and Public Enemy got together in the studio - That's who X-Clan was: Back to Africa movement, teaching & preaching Black pride, enlightening us on Egyptology and the Truth, and fighting racial injustice, while doing it all on wax!

Their best album was their debut, with all the Parliament/Funkadelic samples with Brother J's slick & clear delivery, Suger Shaft's (RIP) beats, and Professor X's Pro-Black co-signing, it's my favorite rap album and nothing really comes close.

i was just listening to "to the east, blackwards" a few days ago! man that shit is funky

i just happend 2 look on youtube and found out they had a new album..i ordered that shit pronto!

the xodus album is no passover album either tho. when i was still in deep mourning over my dad's death, i was listening 2 music in my car in low volumes until i played xodus in my car. as soon as proffessor x said, "come de da dum .." from the song xodus, i immediately pumped that volume and started

You know how I got into XClan? Remember how, on "In Living Color", the fly girls used to do a hip hop routine before going to commercial? One night, they did their routine to "Funkin Lesson" and the song sounded really cool, so I went out and picked up the tape "To The East Blackwards".

What an album! I hear folks on Xodus, but To The East was my personal favorite. All of side 1 (cassette tape lingo) and most of side 2 were simply on point. However, "Fire and Earth", from Xodus, remains my favorite XClan song and for lots of reasons.

By the way, someone mentioned earlier how they influenced Eminem. One of my few complaints about Eminem is that I recall him dissing XClan as reverse racist and feeling discouraged by their lyrics to get into hip hop. I read this around the time of when his last album Encore came out. I never liked that. Anyway...

Recently, there was a movement to have a street in Brooklyn named after Sonny. The NYC Council shot it down.

For too many reasons to list, I was never a fan of X-Clan. But they had a cranking live show. Professor X's "Aaaaaahhhhh" completely pumped up a crowd even before they took the stage, and the bellydancers instead of steppers was a cool, original touch.

I was listening to X-Clan last night and I forgot that they dissed KRSOne (Hey, brother, YOU must learn!) and then they dissed their OWN labelmates 3rd Bass! (3rd Bass, I'm at home/Waitin' for ya pitch so I can crome ya dome)

They dissed 3rd bass again when they said "I found a caveboy who tried to act black"

Dissing your labelmates is totally UNHEARD OF!

This group used to be so cool in the late 80s/early 90s.

I remember seeing their "Funkin' Lesson" video on Yo! MTV Raps alongside videos by Kwame, Special Ed, De La, Queen Latifah + Monie Love, Snap!, Ed OG & Da Bulldogz, Heavy D's "Don't Curse" video, etc.

Great time for hip hop music!!!
