Only Five? Damn!!
Ok, I'll have to put Jazz and Classical aside, because that just wouldn't be fair--too much to sort through to pick favorites...

OK...

Think - Curtis Mayfield
Maggot Brain - Funkadelic
The Dance of Life - Narada Michael Walden
Savoir Faire - Chic
Night Bird - Michel Colombier

Damn!! I just gotta stick one more in:

Diamond Dust - Jeff Beck

lol I know that's cheating, but....

i've taken this to mean instrumentals from people who usually
don't make instrumental music (like jazz or filmscores etc)..
cuz if we'd include jazz and electronic music the choise would
be impossible.

radiohead : "meeting in the aisle"
gonzales : "gogol"
smashing pumpkins : "mellon collie & the infinite sadness"
prince : "venus de milo"
björk : "ambergris march"
