So sad When you treat people fairly, conduct yourself professionally, and act like an adult...bad things tend NOT to happen to you.

Nope. KRS was married to Ramona "Ms. Melodie" from 1988 to 1992, but this isn't her child.

By STEVE VISSER The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Published on: 07/10/07 The son of rap pioneer KRS-One was found dead in his Atlanta home in an apparent suicide. Details were sketchy Tuesday but the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that 23-year-old Randy Hubbard Parker died of a gunshot wound to the head. No note was found, but the medical examiner listed the death as a suicide from a pistol and found nothing suspicious about the case. The office spoke with his mother, Simone G. Parker, Tuesday who said the family was out of the country. She released a statement that said her son had suffered a long battle with depression. His body was found Friday in a house he rented on Carey Drive in southeast Atlanta; he had been dead for several days. Parker was a graphic designer and fashion entrepreneur who was seeking employment in Atlanta, according to WSB-TV. His family said a private memorial service will be held on July 18, which would have been his 24th birthday. Another service is scheduled to take place in New York in August, where Parker was born. KRS-One, whose real name is Lawrence Parker, was a rap pioneer who began his career in the 1980s as one half of the hip-hop crew Boogie Down Productions. He went on to a solo career in the 1990s and his hits include "Criminal Minded," "Black Cop," and "The Bridge is Over." Critics credited him with being a significant force in the hip-hop culture both for his political rap and for being a forerunner of the gangsta rap genre. More on ajc.com [Edited 7/11/07 6:22am] Man!! This is just crazy to hear. KRS-1 was just one of those guys, among a few at the time, who were doing something positive with Rap. Sending out a message. Don't get me wrong, there were allot of awesome rappers that paved the way and blew our minds, entertained us and told more of a story then just who they f*&^ed, what they were driving, drugs they were selling, or what kind of jewelery they were sportin, etc, in such a way that demeans we as minorities, in they eyes of other races, and sometimes within our own race (blacks/latinos). KRS-1 along with P.E., and others, had something to REALLY speak about, and they did it in such a strong way that empowered us, or taught us something about ourselves as minorities. Those are people you really remember. Those who have touched your life in some way through their heart felt words. Whether it was in a ballad or through Rap. People who tried to make a difference in a positive way. I pray for the peace of their family. Peace spiritually and mentally. I don't know what it's like to lose a child, but to just fathom the thought already brings tears to ones face, chokes you, and rips you apart. May His hands comfort you and may He be your refuge and peace in these times of such emotional chaosity. Gods blessings out to His family. She keeps her pride in a bucket next to the Milky way....Girl6

I was just reading a study yesterday that found that African-Americans have a high incidence of depression--many left untreated due to the stigma of mental illness. Oh, you have the same situations in many other countries with other minorities just as well. I guess the very special situation and the circumstances you´re livng under fuel the depression.
