Jimi Hendrix and James Brown Did Jimi Hendrix and James Brown ever meet? Do we know what they thought of each others work? These thoughts crossed my mind because James was putting out some great material between 1967 and 1970 when Jimi came upon the scene. | |

Hendrix had a group around 1966 called Jimmy James & The Blue Flames On second guitar was a 15 year old Randy Craig Wolfe. Hendrix renamed him Randy California. After Jimi split for England, Randy became a member of the popular 60s group Spirit. tA  Tribal Disorder

Well in a concert from the 80s that I have, James has a segment where he pays tribute to dead musicians and lists Jimi Hendrix among them. As for what Jimi thought of James, I'm sure he dug him...hell most everybody in rock or soul at the time was influenced by him at least somewhat. | |

James Brown said in a 1982 interview that he saw Jimi play with Little Richard. He said Jimi's playing blew him away and named Jimi "Superbrother". Now if that's not a compliment I don't know what is. | |
