Family Reunion Playlist, HELP!!!

I will be DJ-ing my family reunion come next weekend in Donaldsonville, Lousiana (tha's way in the country)

Anyone have some suggestions? I need lots of Funk, Soul, R&B oldies. Stuff to make the uncles get down and dance, and some nice mellow songs/ballads for the grandparents.

U might also want 2 throw in "Shotgun" from Jr. Walker and the Allstars. This song ALWAYS gets 50 year-old black people on the floor. Also "(Everytime I turn Around) Back In Love Again" from LTD (the 12" version). They can electric slide to that all night.

Also (if it's a blues crowd), "Slide On" from Johnnie Taylor, "Good Love" from Johnnie Taylor, "Hole In The Wall" from Mel Waiters, "Got My Whiskey" from Mel Waiters, "Candy Licker" from Marvin Sease, "I'm Trapped" from Carl Sims, and anything by Denise Lasalle.

It sounds like a great family reunion in Donaldsonville. I grew up not far from Donalsonville in Plaquemine. I have relatives in White Caste.

You can add "Disco Lady" to the mix. Almost any of Johnnie's music would be excellent to have at a reunion.

Everytime you put this cd on, people go wild. It is one his best albums. Add in "Running Out Of Lies" and ur set.

I betcha my family reunion at the end of the month can outcountry yours. lol
Try Moncks Corner, SC. Maybe not since it is right outside Charleston, SC.
For music purposes, Maze Before I Let Go for sure. We had this at our reunion two years ago and it got the old and young up off their asses and it was one big line dance. Play a lot of the 70's and 80's stuff like evelyn champagne king shame, love come down, etc. Damn you got to throw flashlight in there. No party is complete without a george clinton jam.
Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

Thanx, LBC.
I'll see you there.

I'll be the guy getting drunk & laughing it up with your uncle.
Also, at the end of the night, when everybody is packin' up to go home, I'll be the guy askin' "So.....what do you guys wanna do now...?"
