Rakim is so underated it's nowhere near funny. Eric B just went along for the ride, he didn't do too much. Kinda like Pete Rock & CL Smooth. One was a def rapper and the other was the cat in the background saying "yeah" "uh huh" "that's right" and so on. While I agree Rakim helps this track alot, it is also very good without the Rakim flow because Dr. Dre is just that damn good. Dre made Hammer sound like a star in '96 so it can't be hard to make Truth Hurts sound like one, right?

Someone pointed out (I forget if it was here, or somewhere else) how Prince's rapping voice sounds kinda similar to Rakim's...just KINDA! (hip hop purists, please dont flame me!)

Rakim is the Man to Me on the Mic over the Past 15 Years."Follow the Leader","I Ain't No Joke".Prince did Give Rakim Props on Larry Graham's NPG Album. He said Larry was to the Bass what Rakim was to the Mic.Rakim's 90's Albums have had overall so-so Production but the Brother hasn't lost a thing on the mic to me.I remember Nikki Giovanni&Michael Eric Dyson on Sinbad's Vibe Show Reciting His Lyrics on the Sofa on Stage.that Spoke Volumes about What Rakim's Words Mean.that was Something else. mistermaxxx

Hi all, I agree that Rakim is the Man "It's been a long time..." He has a beautiful home in Connecticut! I didnt think rappers made that kind of loot! But he has written a LOT of raps for people that you dont know about!
Anyway, his CD is coming out this year... DCM

Rhonda..u KNOW we must be 's after all girl!! 4 back at ya': "Dont Sweat the Technique" I've noticed recently that I'm REALLY showing my age when I catch myself reflecting on the golden age of rap..."Why, when I was young, rap was good! Not like these clowns today..." There's no denying how very little creativity goes into most rap music these days - a loop and basically a bunch of talking or shouting. Half of them can't even rap for christ's sake.

Ra worked w/ Prince's boy Andre Cymone back in the day on the Jody Watley track Friends. I think Andre was still a little jealous of Prince's commercial success.
Ya still aint thankful, still complainin Used to be a quiet storm But now its rainin That boy is dope. They say money don't buy you luv. But it'll help w/ the search.
