Michael Bolton "how can we be lovers"

http://www.youtube.com/wa...0how%20can

Damn, i love this song. Warren is a genius and its powerful enough to get me shouting out the words LOL. Credit must go to bolton though, and i wish he woulda stuck to soft rock like this. Its a great pop song

I love the double harmony on the fade out of the song. "la la, la la la la la la laaa la" or something. Nice touch

Samir: No one in this country can ever pronounce my name right. It's not that hard: Samir Na-gheen-an-a-jar. Nagheenanajar.

Michael Bolton: Yeah, well at least your name isn't Michael Bolton.

Samir: You know there's nothing wrong with that name.

Michael Bolton: There was nothing wrong with it... until I was about 12 years old and that no-talent ass clown became famous and started winning Grammys.

Samir: Hmm... well why don't you just go by Mike instead of Michael?

Michael Bolton: No way. Why should I change? He's the one who sucks.

No he ain't. Sure he was probably annoying as fuck at the time, but when he wasn't covering soul standards (which i never even tried to hear), he was mr MOR, and Walter Affanasieff's pefected that power ballad sound (though he did nick a few tricks from his mentor, Narada Michale Walden), with those amazing synclaviers and powerful drums and diane Warren gave him good songs. From a songwriting point of view, even so called lame shit like this beats the living hell outta anything in the top 40 today. I never understood the hate this guy got? So he's for housewives so what? Lets not label this guy please.

Crappy hurl-inducing music aside, I simply cannot take anyone seriously who willingly wore his hair in this extreme mullet for many years:

disbelief

Did he really think this was a good look? And it's not like it was a bad period, or a one-time style misstep, he hd this look going on FOREVER! shake

Yes, i can understand his ballads getting hate, but really, its just soft rock. I know fuckers on here who like hair metal. Sure this ain't guns n roses, but it ain't his usual "how am supposed to live without u" rubbish. And on an artistic note, u cannot pigeonhole this fucker either, though its a shame he didn't keep doing more uptempo stuff like this.

And people like olivier newton fuckin' john but snob at this? The org is one weird place. I ain't saying love the music, but this song does not deserve the hate the man gets.

As for the mullet? Wel that was part of the hate. He cut it in the mid-90's though.

When he first started out, (as Michael Bolotin) he was actually a hard rocker who got respect from his peers...KISS even got him to co-write some songs with them. Dude did a complete stylistic turnaround, though, seemingly remaking every song in existence and "Boltonizing" it.

Yeah ur right. I see "how can we be lovers" as still softer then his more heavier days, but the power is still there. I think its just a great pop song, and he does not oversing either.

Finially, someone admitting its an ok song. Geez, people on here really suck sometimes lol

I agree that michael shoulda been doing some contemporary rnb (not soul standards mad ) , even dancable rnb, and infact he did opt for such a route with his "all that matters" album. He even got babyface and tony rich to help on some of the cuts. A good move, but bad one commercially. He even cut off his hair for that album
