the real jamiroquai thread

Short and sweet...guinness book of world records...best selling funk album of all time is "travelling without moving" by jamiroquai.I find that interesting.

We've had this discussion before. As much as I dig Jamiroquai -- I own every album -- I don't consider them a funk band.

You just upped the realness of this thread by spelling the band's name correctly!

I consider them to be too partial to disco to be called straight funk. That does not make them unfunky, though.

I'd agree with that.

I just bought "A Funk Odyssey" recently and really enjoyed it. Disco came from the funk and a disco song that ain't funky, ain't worth the waste of wax. biggrin

I consider Jamiroquai to be a funk/disco/pop band....lately,they've been leaning more on the disco side of things, though.

A Funk Odyssey is definitely their best in my opinion.I guess its different to the earlier work in some ways, but it just clicked with me. then space cowboy, then synkronized, then emergency on planet earth. the new ones not really that good.....

I cant wait to go and see them this summer!!!! Oh im so excited!

I used to love them when I was 18. But I seem to out grow them. I guess cause they really wasn't singing about anything...it got kinda silly to hear them sing about space and time travel. Anywayz, I like Syncronized the most with "Butterfly" and "Black Capricorn Days" being my favorites.

The last two albums are full of real-life material! There are some great songs!

Actually I think its Jay thats outgrown space and time travel (or rather drugs, the inspiration behind those themes...)

'A Funk Odyssey' is my favorite Jamiroquai album. The songwriting is top-notch,and nearly every song has a strong, infectious hook. They were at the top of their game when they recorded this album.

The new album 'Dynamite' is great, but it's not quite the masterpiece that 'A Funk Odyssey' is.

Definitely, they are all really strong songs and even after listening non-stop for three years I cant get enough! especially Main Vein. Id like to say one of their older albums are my favourite but I cant!
