Eazy-E, It's Been Ten Years... March 26, 1995

I loved this group, especially this rappers style and rhyme... here's a link to a site marking the 10 Year Anniversary of his passing...

The contributions late hip-hop pioneer Eazy-E made to hip-hop are undeniable. Aside from founding N.W.A. (N*ggaz With Attitude) that spawned successful careers for Dr. Dre and Ice Cube, Eazy helped establish a voice for inner city youth by chronicling gang life, poverty, and police brutality in his music.

The impact of N.W.A.'s song "F**k Tha Police" prompted the FBI to write a letter condemning the track. (See letter)

Eazy-E, born Eric Wright, established a precedent for hip-hop artists by creating Ruthless Records which sold millions of albums from his solo catalog as well artists including N.W.A., JJ Fad, Michel'le, MC Ren, Above The Law, and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony.

The respected hip-hop mogul succumed to complications from AIDS on March 26, 1995. Ten days prior to his death, he urged his fans to educate themselves on the disease.

Ten years later, Eazy's legacy lives on through artists like the Game, 50 Cent, and Eazy's own son, Lil' Eazy, who is scheduled to release an album next year on Virgin Records.

Doesn't feel like a decade to me. Just heard "Radio" (?) on the radio the other day & was like, "OH YEA! Easy E!" Trippy, how fast it took him out...

It's a trip to see everyone now who came from NWA and what they've become. IMO, Ice Cube is the most successful as far as commercial pop appeal, Dr. Dre is the most successful music wise and I can't say much about MC Ren or DJ Yella, who knows where they are. Easy wasn't fooling anybody, he had more street persona than rapping skills, but he did something right to make as far as he did.

This post has been modified from its original thought. It has been formatted to fit into the space and run in the time allotted.

Mc Ren was featured on The DOC's cd The Deuce. That track reunited NWA members and was the best on the cd.
