It might be safe to say that it isn't a big shock in the rap game for a female rapper to be gay. I mean there's really no room for a dainty, girly rapper is there? Not to say that lebians can't be dainty and girly (lipstick lesbians anyone?) but for the rough and tumble world of rap, who needs it? |

actually the perception of women in Rap have changed drastically ever since the emergance of Lil'Kim who to me despite her lyrical content or lack of rather is very visually dainty to me anyway...her and Foxy Brown set the glamorous image for other females to follow...now most labels won't sign a female rapper unless she is dainty and sexed out...but back in the days you had butch chicks like Latifah,Lyte,Yo-Yo,Monie Love,Nikki D.,Heather B.,Bo$$,and Rage... who all had this butch/tomboy thing going on regardless of their orientation... I am not African. Africa is in me, but I cannot return.

I think that Da Brat might be bisexual because she was also rumored to be dating Allen Iverson at one time.
I don't get all into the "she acts like a dude so she's gay" stereotype, and that's why I don't believe that Alicia is gay. To add a different perspective to this thread: some of the butchest women I know are straight, and some of the most feminine are gay or bisexual, including myself. So just because such-and-such lady rapper has a boyish swagger or doesn't wear much makeup, doesn't mean anything.
This whole reaction goes back to my ill-fated thread on Prince fans from a few days ago. A lot of the people saying "this chick has to be gay b/c she comes across as butch" are the same people who say Prince couldn't be anything but straight, despite his intense girliness.
