Culture Club's Song "Mistake Number 3"

I absolutely love this song, it's one of my favorites. I've always loved Culture Club's music, and wondered if Boy George wrote all the words and music for their songs? Also, does anyone know what "Mistake No. 3" is about, or if there is a story behind it? Thanks for your help. biggrin

Mistake No. 3
Culture Club

You can't by stand all the people
Stand them on their own
They will fall to pieces
So we watch them grow
Into strange and pretty faces
I don't know
Clutching to my lipstick traces
Watch them go

Make mistake number three
(repeat three times)

It's strange how much it changes
How they want to know
How cynical are people
That's where children go

Dragged into a conversation
They can't hold
It's so bad
But it prepares them for the mould

Make mistake number three
(repeat three times)

Why is my love like an ocean run dry?
Why is my love
Such a struggle with life?

You can"t bystand all the people
Stand them on their own
They will fall to pieces
So we watch them grow

Make mistake number three
(repeat three times)

Make mistake number three

music
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I know they did write all of their own music, but not all of them had meanings. From his Autobiography 'Take it Like A Man' alot of the songs were the result of him being pressured to get something out and he didn't have the time to think them through. For that particular record I think the Boy was already hooked on drugs too. When Culture Club came out with 'Sold' he was supposed to be clean but was instead high as a kite during the entire thing. I too loved Culture Club and still try to keep up with Boy George but unlike the purple man very few songs were written with any kind of meaning.

The one that has meaning is Time (Clock Of The Heart). Someone else can tell the story, though.

And, yes, the band wrote all the lyrics and music.

'Colour By Numbers' is an incredible song and I can't for the life of me work out why it was left out of the original album configuration. A truly moving masterpiece.

Thank God for the remasters.

'Victims' was about the role he played i think. It was about Jon Moss and the whole relationship. Most of the early songs were.

There are a lot of cool songs by the Boy but the one I like the best is 'When will you learn'. I think the Boy had a lot of music that people were just not ready for. He is a musical icon in my mind, but then this is coming from a gal who used to dress like him when I was younger. smile

"Mistake No. 3" is one of my favorite Culture Club songs. I did not purchase a greatest hits compilation of theirs until I found one that contained this song.

He did write a lot of the songs about Jon and people in general. I don't think he remembers what they are about exactly. And for that album in particular...most of the songs don't make sense. Dangerous Man, The Dive, Medal Song, Mistake no 3. I think the only ones that made any sense were the War song and Hello/Goodbye...and even then sorta.

"electric dreams" it's a old 80s movie about a guy comes upon a ultra smart computer that helps the guy at first but in the end he(the computer) trys to steal the guy's girlfriend away.
